    Thanks man-

No, it only shrinks 3 percent, the bosses I put in there are bigger than the screw head. I also spread the bolt pattern apart 5/32” more than what they should be. Length wise you’ll notice a little shrink, width wise you won’t notice anything.

This has nothing to do with this thread except for the hemi. I got this Hemi adapter from Fritz Christ in the classified along with the cragar to early ford I’m running on this one.

I wanted to put this hemi in my shoebox convert but couldn’t find an adapter like this… looked and looked… Then when I go ahead and decide to put it in my truck and this one pops up haha. So I got it.

This is how having a pile of parts you don’t really NEED starts…

I decided to cast some block off plates instead of the flat aluminum stand ins for the rear water ports since I can pour these all the same day.

I’m gonna cast the spring return mount which I’ll drill and polish it. I’ll add Allen head bolts recessed into the aluminum like the block off next to it.

Very cool! Are the flat stand offs hollow and you would just drill and tap for a hose fitting? I was curious why you hadn’t cut them off and smoothed them when I noticed them.

Thanks man, They’re leftover solid risers from the casting process, Chrysler just machined off the tops the same height as the water inlet. I’m going to drill and tap them. I’ll locate where I want to put the hardware, machine those and then use a transfer punch to locate where I put the holes to drill.

Wait, if you’re talking about the flat plates, they’re on the back of the heads… they’re there because you can put a head on either side of the engine the same so the water pump bolts up either way. No tapping for water.

Got them in primer surfacer. I’ll block them out and then paint them in single stage acrylic urethane. Once they’re shiny they make really good patterns because they pull out easy and will have a nice finish.
I’m done posting for a week, I can slam some stuff through when girls are with mom, when they come back I don’t work on this stuff so I can give them 100%.

For real? Theyre different? How dare they…
I heard there was a lot of competition between Desoto, Chrysler and dodge hence some of the different designs around the same motor.. it’s amazing they have the same bellhousing pattern.

@silent rick those are cool! The lettering looks like it’s to squared off at the bottom, If you took some glaze and molded a fillet at the base of those letters I think that would keep the sand from getting trapped in the font. And just sand in a slight draft… thanks for temporarily sharing that ;) way cool.

Thanks Rod! Here’s a pic from my messy shop! IMG_6384.jpeg

Enjoy seeing these cast at home parts after being involved with molding for almost 50 years.
On thing i notice is not enough draft on the side walls. Rule of thumb the shallower the detail the steeper the angle. Shallow letters should have at least 15 degrees or more draft to pull correctly. Draft chart for example. Following these guidelines will help with successful casting.

I don’t not have much to report because I’ve been sick for almost two weeks… It’s the never ending story… Can’t wait for this bug to subside. I swear I get over one thing and get hit with another.

I prepped the gen pulley for chrome. I’m going to chrome the generator because it sticks out in your face and would look cool. I need to chrome a few brackets too so might as well drop them all off at the same time.

I cast the spring return mount.

Had to take 3/16” off my valley pan so it won’t hit the bottom of the intake.

I picked up material to build an engine run stand… so the plan is to get the hemi painted and then I can mount it on the stand and work towards getting it together and ready to fire up… with the idea that the ready to go running hemi will motivate me to finish the chassis, run break lines etc… knowing I can drive the damn thing!

Brookville is shipping my doors and rear panel mid Jan. I’m gonna run and pick up my roadster cowl here after Christmas.

Happy Holidays and New Year from our family-
