So the family came up for easter... BORING as usual... Cooked the turkey and hamb...

kept stealing the watermelon pickles because they RULE...

all my cousins came up and were board outta their minds, we went out to the shop after we ate and started showing projects.

the kanadian truck was in the bay ready for clear... i only get a chance to work on it on weekends b/c im still finishing up lame credits at UWS.

So it would be wet with clear today if it wasnt easter and obviously im a work-o-haulic first, fun later

i told the boys hey lets take the hex out and RIP***** UP [tm]

bad**** they're ripped up, we get in the hex and i take em out for the FLATHEAD BURNOUT and we roast some bias on the tar

by now they're smileing ear to ear.. .head to town, bias squealing around Devils corner...

we hit the main drag, do a good accelleration and pull my famous second gear bark' and SNAP***

shit... I coast to the side

First thing I thought of was the******* and how ROCKY said yer gonna Break that trans one of these days...

But guess what ROCK... it was the REAR END. haha

    drive shaft spinning in first...
I had to tow it home.

SO time to drop in a**** AXLE, I think TOKYO wont miss his merc rear end haha... j/k toke, ill take the one outta my other parts car. The gears are gone... the 4 11's didnt hold up.

heres a current pic of the Kandian truck- layed in all the shadows its begging for clear.

hope yer all having a good easter, eat lots of hamb and drink lots of wine.... im gonna be in the shop tonight---

I have blown numerous driveshafts out of the 36 doing that. It makes for good stories though..... [IMG]

I toleja boy! Hey, ten million dollars sez you snapped the splined end offa the left axle shaft. Not a big deal if the busted end didn't splay out, making it difficult to get outa the 3rd member. I've spent hours extracting broken left side axles from 50 fords back in the olden days...

Fred... I was JUST talking about hours... and how im so bad at judgeing time. 100 hrs?... not sure. I shouldve been punching the time clock. Its about 3 flame jobs in one... thanks for the props [IMG] you should see it in person though, I cant wait to post pics of it buried in clear.

I'm in the shop cleaning it and masking getting ready for the CLEAR.

Thank god the moskito's are still asleep.

I could hear noise towing that car home. I wonder if its the center section. I busted an axle clean off like this before and it didnt make any racket.

Rather the REAR than the trans anyday...

Yeah kev we were JUST TALKING about it when you were up. I cant wait to take the rear out.

I have a high speed rear out of a non overdrive car... I wonder what it would be like with a high speed rear and overdrive??? gutless haha but think of the milage and low RRRR"s on the freeway [IMG]

One more pic before I clear it.
God I wish this was on a '56 Olds instead [IMG] SEAWEEEEED all the way down the side [IMG]

    Rocky,

I broke the left side on my '49 haha

we got the alxe out with a screwdriver and timeing

my buddy pushed the axle through with a rod and I lifted the end of the axle with a screwdrive and it came right out the seal...

    First try

doubt that would happen again, I was 18 and quick at the draw.

I'll find out soon enough-- i just had to laugh cuzz the first voice in my head was YOURS Rocky saying I told you so hahahaha...

I know the what thats like waiting for second gear to take hold and the sound you hear isn't the chirp but bang. Mine was a driveshaft it took out all kinds of stuff when it went.

You finally blew the rear end...no surprise..knowing the strength with which you have "let things out" before...ahahaha!!

That's*****s man...Grabbing that other rear end won't be bad..plus you could then run new brakes...??

Ps...the flames look alive on that thing..they look like they are moving..seriously...sweet****ties...
