Building a 32 Tudor, and it will be the original Washington blue, but I'm having a problem deciding whether to paint the frame blue or gloss black, what would be more correct on an early 50's fenderless C-dan?
It would depend on the wheels and style of the car. If you're going with blackwalls and steelies (more of a bare bones look) then I would almost always paint the frame the way it came from the factory which is black. To me it makes sense that a kid would just take the fenders and roll. Plus the combination of black and Washington Blue is stunning. However if you're going with White Walls, I would paint it the body color and then do the suspension in black....or chrome.
If you painted the frame the body color, it might lend itself to switching up the look later on with a different set of wheels and tires ya know? It certainly would be the safe bet but if you have a clear vision for this car and it includes something like '35 Spoked wheels and a flathead head, don't rule out a Black ch***is because it's really a nice touch.
It will have gloss black 16x4 steels and blackwalls, I was thinking the black frame would tie in the wheels also
I agree with Jeffrey. The black frame is the way to go with your wheel and tire choice. Throw it on the photoshop thread, I'm sure someone can give you an example of both.
Black. Works visually with the Washington Blue and is easy to touch up. This is exactly my plan for my 32 Fordor after I run it for a year or so in low buck form.
