6 months ago when I brought the HA-GR home I thought I would have all kinds of time to get the car finished and some shake down runs. Here it is 4 days before and I am putting an old tired engine in just so I can be there and doing all the things I should have done. I decided to put two roll bars on the car and modify the steering to take all play out. I still have some things to put together. I hope to fire it up on tuesday and at least get in on the road to see if it runs alright. Waiting on pistons for the real motor so I will run the old used motor for a while. Just hope I don't run into any glitches along the way. I should live next to Toymaker and let some of his organizational skills rub off on me.Roy
Hiney, Speed Merchants won't be there. We're testing the TF car in Dallas this weekend. Have fun and be safe! Brad
Rand Man, May 9, May 30, June 20, July 11 and 12, Aug. 8, Sept. 12 and 26. I fired up the dragster last night at 11:45 and for a 7.5 to 1 compression motor it sounded good. It is pouring down rain right now but I hope it stops. I don't have a clue as to how the car will run but we're going to leave if it stops raining for the 4 hour drive to Tulsa. Bob If yoy hear of any cancelation plans post it please. Roy
348 ran his his first event friday night at Tulsa .He started off with a low 16 sec run and his fourth run was a 14/39 /98+mph way to go ROY .ROY has done alot of nice work on car . I liked the fab work on the intake and the throttle linkage .buy the time mokan rolls around he will be a contender. Okie Outlaw won with a 11/71 to loseing 11/91 for the Red Baron
Listen guys those people in Tulsa are just about the nicest people around. I haven't had that much fun in 40 years. An open car feels like you are going 200 mph. I have some bugs to work on but I believe there is more in the 7.5 compression junk yard motor. For one thing I put the richest jets I had in the carbs and I was using about 3/4 gallon of gas each run. The plugs were a little dark and I have some clutch problems to work on. If I would have had my visor up I would have HAD BUGS ON MY TEETH BECAUSE IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. Roy
You're right about the feeling in an open ****pit. I'm sure you guys had fun and I'm sorry I missed it. We took the new Nostalgia Top Fuel FED to to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX on Saturday. We ran three, 1/8th mile squirts, just to check things out. Ran 4.3 sec, 174mph at the 1/8th, pulled one chute and coasted through the quarter at 7 sec flat at 146 mph. Not bad for a very mild tune-up. I plan to post about it on the main board tomorrow.
I've got my back yard torn up to build a shop and I've been out town the last two weekends. Sorry, I can't go and Brad has his hands full with the new car. Maybe we can go next time, with more notice.
