Well they probably had to start uncovering the car early because I'm sure it has taken more than 1 day to get the work done. If it has had water that high the motor is going to be junk and the interior will be trashed too. I heard a story the other day about how they rushed the 57 from dvelopmental stage to production without any testing and in the rain it leaked like crazy around doors and windshield. Can't imagine how it would hold up acting as as submarine.

from what ive read they sealed the car in a almost everything proof blanket so if that has held it might still be good underneath

Hey Fellas, nothing a nice, shiny new set of Boyd's wheels wouldn't fix!

From all the threads I've read on it here, maybe the vault was filled with white vinegar

Actually a car won't rust too bad if its completly submerged, but who knows what this has been through.

Still...it isn't like they couldn't just dump a quarter of the money raised into an restoration...anything can be saved, haha.

Somebody call Barry White. It'll make a good episode of "Wrecks to Riches". Just tell him there's some obscure auction on Friday and he'll get it fixed up in time.:D Mike

You have to remember that we are working with city employees and officials with regard to the timeframe of removal. We're lucky its getting done in only 2 days! If it were a city street or highway, they'd NEVER get it done!

Overall, from what can be seen from the pictures of the wrapped car, the roof is intact as are the front fenders and rear fins. How well intact they are, we won't know until it is pulled out and unwrapped.

I cant believe they didnt have some way to monitor the water level in the vault. Should have left it above ground. On well, hind site is 20 20.

They said they covered it with cosmoline also. Pending on how much and where they put it, it could be nice. Very doubtful but you never know. Can't wait to see it.

According to Crab on the other thread, one of the fins ripped through the "blanket", therefore I don't think it held......well maybe just water.
