I have a 350 small block Chevy motor nice old school 202 heads cam comp 292d 509 lift and nice parts on the bottom end my question is I have a weiand tunnel RAM with d shaped runners u no the summit mag special I am running adapter plates on top and 4 9 super 7 carbs on top. it runs and iddles great. looks good to .first off didn't build it for racing just most for car showes to me they seam a bit small worried about to lean haven't driven it yet still wating on a drive line. I just want to be able to drive to a couple showes around here and threw town once in a while and maybe some poker runs .:confused:so if its to lean any ideas or you think it will be ok

Carbs are a funny thing. Even if you don't have enough cfm, the faster the air goes through the carb, the more fuel it pulls. Tune it right and it will be fine.

I think it will work just fine, as long as you tune it and remember one thing -- the tunnel ram is generally meant for high RPM operation. You can use it on a street car, but it'll probably run better with a single 4-barrel. But if you're just going to take the occasional drive through town and to a show, you ought to work just fine.

One other thing -- make sure your cam and torque convertor match the range of the intake, or you're going to bog it down at every stop sign.

  6. Tunnel ram is also a 70s thing, not from the 50s or early 60s. Just saying, do what you want, it's your car.

  7. So Richard your saying the " Disco Ball " air cleaner I'm building wont be HAMB friendly?

Isn't that cam a bit much to only putt around the street now and then? You are going to have some serious rpm's to get to the sweet spot.

So what were the Ramchargers running on high and mighty running in 59?

  16. They didn't buy theirs from Summit.

  17. I ran one on a 350 back in the day on my 36 Ford. Drill the throttle blades with an 1/8" drill, weld the dist. mech. advance plate to only let in about 10 degrees, and dial all the advance in initially. Drove it on the street and to the Nats many times that way!!

  18. I have the 292 Comp in the 26 in my avatar, 10 inch 3500 stall converter, and 3.73:1 rear, nice little street hydraulic stick. TR

I basically have the same engine as you......Edelbrock TR1X with 2 600 Holley Vacuum secondaries.....drive it all the time......gets about 10 mpg..tuned right you won't have any trouble.
