On my sbc manifold I have 6 2 barrel carbs and am having a hard time finding room for my kickdown cable..... Was thinking if I came thru firewall and hooked it to the top of my gas pedal when I stand on it it will pull cable and kick down any ideas yes no ???

Heck all last summer I never got around to hooking my cable up, and just downshifted when I felt the need.

That will work fine. Many GM cars back in the 70s had gas pedal kick down cables. They were real common on Buicks. All the cable has to do is to just about bottom out in the trans at full throttle. Geometery is not a real concern with the turbo 350 as it is with the 700R4.

I have a friend who has 1000's of miles on his 38 Convertible without one with no problems. I'm thinking of getting rid of mine on my delivery as I can't seem to stop it from leaking?

Nope, won't work. The only solution is to replace that TH350 with a 4spd.;)

I made a simple lever to fit one of my throttle shafts. Worked awesome.

Yes the car has a 2x6 set up manifold is real low in motor any side shafts hit the valve covers but yours looks real clean and small

Like has been said already, you don't actually need a throttle pressure/kick-down for a TH350 trans, but you have to manually pull it down into another gear to p***, etc. When I built the 250 six in my 74 Nova years ago, I started out with B/W 4-speed in it, then later went to a TH350 (had a lot of clutch related problems, and the exhaust made it difficult to pull the trans/clutch so frequently). Never did have a kick-down on it, and with the Clifford intake and Holley 2 barrel carb, it would have taken a little work, as the carb was mounted "sideways". I thought about using a micro switch hooked to an electric door release type of solenoid connected to the kick-down cable, so I'd have a p***ing gear, but never got around to it. Later, I put a V-8 in the car, and used factory brackets to connect everything. In fact, Summit Racing's brand TH350 transmissions DO NOT come with a kick-down feature, and the hole for the cable in the case is PLUGGED. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  16. If you leave it disconnected you WILL loose rpm at WOT shift points.

It will shift early. Grandma wouldn't probably ever notice
