i had a problem with the 350 ****** in my shoebox last week. it ended up being the front pump bushing. so , i swapped it out for another pump that i had in my shop. i put the ****** back in, and it seems to drive good, bit it seems to only shift once. i believe it only has 2nd and 3rd gears. i suspected this, and manually selected first gear to see if it would shift manually through all 3 gears. when i put it in first, it will not move. it makes a grinding/buzzing noise. any help would be great , thanks. dave.
well, i also found out that when i manually shift into first gear, it stays still, much like when you brake torque a car. so i called bulletman from d and s rod and custom. he pointed me in the right direction. he told me that, since the pump i put in the ****** came out of a ****** that was originally behind a straight six, the pump was longer. this was due to the fact that generous motors started to cheap out on the number of clutches in their six cylinder ******s. he told me that i just needed to pull the pump, and remove one steel and one clutch from the clutchpack, and it will work just like it's supposed to. so, at 10 pm tonight i pulled the car in to yank the ****** for yet the third time in two weeks. i must be getting faster at it, cause it's out,and the clutch and steel have been removed, and it's ready to go back in. i'll let you know if this fixed the problem. hopefully it does, cause goodguys columbus is in a couple days. d.d.t.
i just got it back in the car, and it tested just fine. maybe this will help someone else down the line. a big thanks to bullet man ( sam ) for all his help. hell i might just make columbus after all. d.d.t.
