What the Hell size are the two boltsthat hold the transmission mount to a turbo 350? I tried jamming all kinds of odd sized bolts in there but nothing I had fit. Is it metric? or fine thread? Seems to me I remember ruining the threads on one of these trying to jam a 3/8-16 in there.

7/16 NCT. Usually about 3/4 long.

I tried a 7/16-14 I got when I was at the parts store, it was too big.

there are two threads for metric , a standard and a fine... i believe it is 10mm and the fine thread , or is the standard? i always end up buying both and try them

    10 mm. Standard, I think.

  9. I think the older ones were 7/16" co****, but then they switched to some piece of **** metric bolt later on. It might be that you're trying a fine-pitched metric bolt and you should be trying a co****-pitched metric bolt. Usually threads tapped into aluminum castings go with the co**** threads.

Somebody may have tried to screw the wrong bolt in there and ******ed up the threads, so it may be tough starting the correct bolt anyway if you find it.

I have seen 7/16 unc, and M10. Get a set of taps and work thru the sizes till you find the right one.

I was doing a trans mount relocate for 26tudors 26T on an A frame & his trans mount was both SAE & Metric on the trans & rubber cushion. But again the parts were 2nd or 3rd geeration of mock-ups. so go figure.

I let him know which were which.

I just ran both SAE & metric taps into each thread until i got the right one.
