Hi ya all, I have a Turbo 400 in my 40 coupe I added a lokar electric switch which is throttle position operated. My problem is that this box does not give me 3 - 2 downshift. It has been rebuilt completely with B&M products. Beefed up clutches heavy duty intermediate spragg It also runs a mild 2000 stall Holeshot converter. I run it on trick mineral trickshift. Has anyone got any info on how I can fix this problem or run any checks ? Thanx Mr pp

did you check to see that it's getting 12v to the electrical connector on the trans when the key is on, and you floor the gas pedal (engine NOT running while you're checking it out)

also pull the wire off and measure the resistance from the electrical connector on the trans to ground, should be a few ohms.

    Hiya Squirrel,

I had the trans rebuilt for me. Originally by a drag racer over here who runs a 7 second car and knows his stuff. It was a while before he car was ready. Some rodders said to me that I rebuilt it too soon and should have waited.

When I fitted the trans I had to manufacture my own floor bracket to go from ididit column to trans with a custom linkage.

The Lokar 400 kickdown swithch fits neatley on the tranny pan, it is cable operated to a bracket on the Carburettor. Ive set this to about 90% full throttle position.

Question Does the 3-2 kickdown work electrically or with a vacuum modulator or with governor weights?

Ive wired the switch with a hot feed from the ron francis fuseboard.

sounds like you have all the name brand parts. i can't see why it doesn't work. check the switch for proper voltage at the right time, engine off, check your connections.

The 3-2 kickdown works electrically, but the car has to be going slow enough that it will allow a kickdown.

Did you do the electrical checks to make sure it's getting power to the connector on the trans when the key is on, gas pedal down all the way (pushed from inside the car, not just pulling on the linkage)?

did you check to see that there's appropriate resistance on the connector at the trans?

Please do these things so we can help you figure it out!

    Squirrel,

Just a thought, Should I be able to hear a click or something like a solenoid inside the tranny if I connect oneside of the switch on the trans to positive and the other to negative ? Mrpp

I doubt you could hear the solenoid close, unless maybe you pulled the pan off.
