Yeah, I bought the collection of three I think that you found on Ebay? They were the smaller under the hood units though. I had two others of that model too. Did you send me the drag axle last year? I'll post some pix of this thing later. It's so crazy. I think it's the ultimate speed part because no other speed part ever made that much power EVER. Bolting on 1000 freakin horsepower??? Insane! The cool thing is that you don't have to try and tune it or use it. You can run a regular engine up front and have this bad mofo hangin out the back for when you need to get serious. It has NOTHING to do with the rest of your driveline. It's like walking into a knife fight with a pretty nice knife but having the peace of mind that comes with holding a nuclear warhead behind your back in the other hand.
You have one of those?...I remember reading about them in the magazines back in the 60s and 70s..cars dropping two and three seconds of their ETs and then grenading to shrapnel..It would be neet if a HAMBer explained how they work.....
I do have every piece of literature I think on these including how they work, how to set em up, where to get fuel, pictures, internal and external shots, etc... Mike Zenor posted a terrific link a while back... http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2006/04/the_real_acme.html I'll piece something together on them and post it up this weekend.
Wow. Can't wait to hear more. How could such a cool thing have existed and yet I have never heard of it...
I've got a BUNCH of pictures but I'm a dumb*** and still haven't learned how to size them... Here are the two I that seem to fit... I can e-mail the others if you wanna see em. The drag axle is in the background behind the first unit. That one is a whimpy 400 horse version. The drag axle was made in 850 and 1000 horsepower versions. This one is a 1000 horse unit. The others have been sold (all to Hamber's) so they can probably be posted by the new owners. All I have is the 1000 horse drag axle now.
