Sorry I'm a day or two late on these!! For all the photos, check out the three links below(WARNING: Some non-HAMB approved photos are in the main album) Thursday @ Bellair Plaza Friday @ The Track Friday @ Bellair Plaza A few dozen or so of my favorite HAMB approved photos
Cobra don't get me wrong I appreciate the effort. I think I saw one or two car's from the HAMB area in all your pic's .And why all the pic's of late model grocery getter's , SUV'S and Pick UP's??
Cobra already said a lot of the pics in the album were non HAMB friendly, he posted appropriate ones here.
I know he posted some HAMB friendly one's But not one pic of your car Nad's or Yaril's. Both spectacular car's. Besides I was allready pissed at all the late model Truck's and car's in the show. I swear Nad's sometimes it felt like I was at a used car lot not a car show.I just thought that maybe this being the HAMB he might have taken pic's of actual HAMBer's car's. I'll shut up now and go have a beer. Gregg
Don't get me wrong, I would have, had I saw them! Was there a club section? I looked, but I did not see one. I tried to cover as much of the show cars as I could, but honestly I didn't get to all of them. We were down there priority number one to buy a car(which we did), but that took up a few hours of the day, so I didn't get to cover as much ground as I would have hoped to. I do apologize. As for all the other stuff, my style of event coverage is to give people that aren't lucky enough to get to go the feeling that they went and have saw everything. If I shoot a show with 100 cars or less I take a photo of every car, its just the way I've done it for years. Alot of stuff I take photos of I don't like, or even think is cool. If you look hard enough in my pics there is a beautiful red 40 ford but it has a set of 24's on it, I took that as a " what did they do? " picture. Next year if someone will point me in the right direction of the hamb cars, I will GLADLY take a picture of each one!
Felt like a heat wave to me! It was in the 50's and 60's. When we left the house it was 16 so I was glad to break out the shorts! Not everyone felt the same way though
Gregg,I'm gonna bet Cobra has never met Nads or Yaril,,being from North Carolina he doesn't know all the cool kids. Give the guy a break! If you don't like the way the Turkey Run is going don't participate,,I've given up on quiet a few shows myself! HRP
Even with all the late models that have recently invaded its still a good show, just getting out of Ohio is worth it for me to go there.
Great pics. I was there and the weather was great. LOTS of walking. That 29 Caddy on page 27 was a sweet ride.
HRP I love the show and in fact belong to the club that put's the show on. I also organize the HAMB parking area . Having said that myself and other club member's and probably most people at show hate the number of non show car's being allowed in the show. I feel bad when I have to park good show car's out on the apron of the track because the main show field is full .If all the grocery getter's and stock late model vehicles were not there there would be room for true show car's of all types not just HAMB friendly.I work the parking crew and hear all the bitcjng about the late model non show car's in the show . As far as giving Cobra a break I apologize I wasn't trying to dog him out. I guess I was just a little frustrated because he was right next to the HAMB area. There are a few of the HAMB car's in the background of several of the pic's [including my car] . So Cobra my apologies to you and I will extend an offer to you. If your coming next year get in touch with me and I will show you around in my golf kart after I get off duty.I will make damn sure you find the HAMB area LOL Gregg
I think you misunderstand my complaint about the grocery getter's.My problem is with the people that enter there daily driver's in the show . They do this to avoid paying to get in as a spectator. 15;00$ daily admission per person vs. 45:00$ per car with four people for four day's. I actually like the different types of car's at this show and think that is one of this show's strength's. There really is something for every one at this show. Gregg
May have to take you up on that Gregg!! I really hate I missed the HAMB area, I thought I knew where it was, one year anyway. You guys do AN AWESOME job putting the show on. I was a little worried with the construction at the track that it would be a nightmare but everything went smooth. I go to alot of shows year after year and Turkey Rod Run is about the only one I can think of that I've never met a rude staff member or had a problem or inconvenience with anything.
Gregg, you being a member of the club that puts on The Turkey Run do the broad of directors not field the complaints,,from members such as yourself and participants or is it now all about how many cars they can fit inside the event, regardless if they fit the criteria of what is expected. 2 of my fellow club members decided to take in the show this year, one selling parts at the swap meet the other drove his sedan delivery down. There main complaint, besides the late models was the long lines trying to get in and out of the event. HRP
They do field complaint's but just don't seem to do anything about it.The thing is there is a criteria for later model car's. Supposed to have at least three major modification's . I swear I think now the only criteria is 50:00$. As far as the line's I am sure part of the problem was the construction going on at the track. But when your cramming 5000 car's in there in about 4hr's there is gonna be a line. Getting out is kinda funny I got out in 5 min. Problem is people see the line of car's going out the tunnel and think that is only way out.You can leave by any of the entrances you came in from. Gregg
I think the reasons the Daytona club decided to take in later models was twofold. 1) To attract a larger audience, and 2) $45 per head. That decision has watered down the show IMO and you have to walk by a bunch of cars that look like they came off the dealers lot yesterday to get to ones that you want to look at. As for the traffic situation..........WOW !!!!! It was worse this year than ever before. On Friday we moved about 2 blocks in two hours and even had time to change some sparkplugs due to loading up while still sitting in traffic ! I could have rebuilt the engine before it moved at all, I had that much time. After doing this show for 40 years there must be a more streamlined way to get cars in and out. Don
Don I drove out the back gate at 4:00 and was at my house 15 min later. Just went out back gate went west about 200 yard's and did a u turn. Virtually no traffic at all. If your trying to get out on ISB then your ****ed. Talk to me next year and I will show you how to get out Gregg
I guess this was the problem my friends encountered, not being from the area they didn't learn the secret handshake to getting out and avoiding the traffic. I was told it took almost 3 hours to get out and back to the motel,,they both said had they walked they could have been there in less than an hour. HRP
Yea when you dont know your way around you just go with the traffic on main road. Funny thing is we tried sending people out back gate and they just kept following the traffic. I dont know why that is because last year there was a steady stream going right past the HAMB area to the back gate. This year everyone wanted to go out the front gate

I know my dad left with the guy he bought his Corvette from to go to the bank and was back in the track in no-time. The longest ride of the whole trip it seemed was in the infield itself getting back to the spot, and that was about 12pm on Friday. When you get soooo many cars, sometimes lines can't be helped. But believe me, I've been to much smaller shows where the lines were much longer!
As for the late model thing, if its modified or something of that nature, or something cool, I don't mind it, for a big show to survive there is a strong argument to have it. But when I see someones mini-van or pick up taking a spot in the car corral because they were too lazy to walk in, that's what really irks me.
As for going out the way you come is is they usually wont let you turn left and there is a medium the whole length of that road so you can not turn around before heading to the next intersection where the traffic gets stupid, when I drove my truck down I would make a U turn through the medium to avoid that intersection but not in my 55. I think a exit only on the west side of the track would help much if possible.
