I am planning a run from Wisconsin to Daytona for the Turkey Run Swap Meet. The Mrs. knows we are vacationing in Daytona that week. She also knows I don't go anywhere unless there is a swap meet or car for sale. As a first timer what advice can you all give me? I have reservations at a hotel. When is the swap open? I am looking for T Bucket parts, 59 El Camino parts, 74 Vette parts and more. Is this a good swap?

I have not missed one in over 20 years.........lots of fun and stuff to do. The swap is open on Thursday......IF I remember right.....and it is good.....but like all swap meets......the cheap tools, $1 a can spray paint and the shysters are moving in.....

    :(

As with any big show-bring comfortable shoes, lotsa walking!
Right along the main drag on the beach, if you go north once getting on the beach, theres a shopping center a few miles down the road. Every night the parking lot is the hang-out for a ton of cars during the shows weekend. Its always fun to check out for sure too.

The swap meet is big. Tons of vendors, but still lots of normal guys selling their stuff. I like that show, have gone with my dad & bro for lots of years now, always been our "guys weekend"

Not to rain on your parade, but like Duece Roadster I have been going to Daytona since it was at the high school and was very dissapointed with it last year. All the new construction, you cant camp out there anymore, just unorganized...ok so its a lot of bitchin. I think we are going to for go Daytona and hit Moultrie this year for sure. However since this is your first time you should have a blast, bring good shoes, good hats, good sunscreen(for that lilly-white yankee skin..hahaha) and lots of money!!!! Good luck and have fun!

Same here - comfortable shoes and shorts to help cut down on heat rash (unless you are a skinny guy).

Dont plan on seeing all the swap area and all the show in one day it really takes two days of walking and walking. I take a little cooler on my wagon with a sandwich and water/gatoraide and maybe a beer or 15. Most of the killer deals at the swap are gone early or on Thursday.
