Thanks shawn, it really needs tuning but it's music to our ears anyhow. By the time we got everything in place to fire it, which took almost 2 days of running around, there wasn't much time left to fiddle with it. We'll get it sorted out quickly though. I can't wait to see it move either. Once we got the brakes done we almost coasted it down the hill by Matt's house for kicks. Almost...:D

Thanks Rebel, that drink's on me! Unfortunately, yesterday we noticed the rear generator mounting boss is almost cracked off completely. Gotta find another genny quick!!

Thanks, Jeffrey! Kool! How long are you in town for on the 4th? We should definitely meet up, but I think my wife made plans for a cabin trip at some point that week... Hmmm....Tearing up B-flo in hot rods or camping... I think I feel an independence day ailment coming on!:D

I am only going to be there I think Thursday or Friday thru Sunday. Isn't Sunday the Nostalgic Drags at Lancaster Speedway or what ever they are calling it these days? I thought I remember my brother saying that but not positive. If you are around we should definitely meet up. My brother lives in Elma and that's where I am staying.

Hope this works for you. Thumb is over the hole in picture but it is good. Leaving in a few minutes to send it. Look close in the box there is something else you'll need. Pretty ugly but has some personality. That could describe most of us.

Big thanks to steel rebel here for hooking us up with a genny back to replace the cracked one we've currently got.

Thanks Gary, much appreciated! Maybe we'll meet you out on the salt sometime.

Thanks but not sure of the gentleman part. Read my first post to them. Not too gentlemanly. I just like what they are doing and and their drive and wanted to help.

FOUR MONTHS LATER!:eek::eek: WTF is wrong with us? Well, after missing our goal of having the T at the Jalopy Showdown, we decided to take a slightly more balanced and leisurely pace to this build. Matt has been slowly hammering out the piddly details that suck up hours upon hours of time to get worked out. This past weekend I was finally afforded some time to get back to PA and really work on his car. We met up with Kevin (kwmpa) saturday morning and put in an 18 hour day on the little car. Here's some poor pics of the results...

Matt had just put the body on and bolted it down a few nights prior. He had it off to undercoat the bottom and decided to give it a nice "ratrod" flat black finish to keep the local law enforcement for writing him a ticket for "operating a vehicle that may be easily confused with a rolling burner barrell"... No worries though, it will only be wearing this lo-sheen finish for a few months. This winter she'll be blown apart for a shiny black coat and a nice tan top will be fitted. Anyhow, I showed up and said "let's pull the body again and hook up the ebrake system!" so off it went. While we had the body off, we went about tightening all the suspension and steering pieces, lapping the rear hubs to the axles, topping off various fluids, bleeding the brakes AGAIN,(after I decided to pump them with the rear hubs off, DOH!) etc... At about 3pm, here's where we were... Bare Nekkid Chassis!!

After another 7 hours of tying up loose ends, we had the body back on and the car nearly completely wired. It was really cool to see all the lights working... That gentle glow illuminating the garage...

It was about this time that we realized we had all the items checked off on the list that we needed to do to actually drive it. Well, everything except plates, registration, and insurance! Haha... After a year and a half of blood, sweat, swearing, and laughing outloud, the time had come...

A little quick carb tuning, set the timing, add some trans fluid, and a hasty jumperwire for the necessary evil of an electric fan and I found myself sitting shotgun in this angry, roaring 1700 lb monster. Feeling fear, excitement, joy, trepidation, self doubt, and even a little arrogance all at the same time is a weird drug... but it packs an awesome buzz!:D The next thing I know, Matt's tromping on it and we're heading sideways down the hill of the gravel road behind his house. I felt like I was screaming, but I couldn't tell over the roar of the engine. Around the hairpin turn at the bottom, avoiding cowpies near the barn, his neighbors came out on the porch to see what must have sounded like an airplane landing in their front yard. He goosed the throttle again to give them a little show and we both erupted in a laughter. Back up the hill on the real asphalt now it became clear just how dangerous this little car could be, it handled great and rode even better. But one little tap of the throttle and you could feel the power just waiting to be released. By the time we got to the top of the hill she was overheating a bit, we've got a bug or two to work out. BUT we were all enthralled! What a feeling... We should have taken a video, but we were just too excited to even care.

Check out the grin... Snapped immediately after Matt exclaimed "This was the F*#@ing coolest thing I've done all year!"

Looks like a bucket o fun to me! I can understand the difficulties of having a T when you're tall- I'm 6'6" and debating on building a t coupe or selling it to someone shorter. Cool lookin' car and great syle guys!

Thanks man, and again, thanks for the parts!

    Mooch-ass grassy-ass! Matt's like 6'3" and I'm 6'5", don't be a pussy, just fold your legs up!;):D

Yep, completely built for gayness! It's the perfect excuse to cozy up to yer buddy's side and go for a cruise to make out point. haha! And NO! we will not be bringing it to the drags, we WILL be driving it to the drags!!!

It's got a cooling issue we need to sort out. Coolant was fowing through the radiator as both upper and lower hoses were hot. The fan appears to be working well as the radiator core stayed cool. The cap is old and the condition is unkown, also the driver's side bank is running way hotter than the passenger side. We think the primary carb on that side is just dumping fuel and it's burning in the exhaust manifold and superheating that bank. We just haven't had time to mess with it. We put another known good carb on that side, Matt's gonna fool with it this week and see what's up. Showdown drags, one way or another!

Just got off the horn with Matt. He swapped carbs around to no avail, and pulled the intake as we thought it might not be sealing inside and causing a big vacuum leak. Plugs were white on the hot bank, he found a few busted up and bent pushrods, hmmm... Something's not right... This thing ran great when it was in the donor car a few years ago. Sticky valves from crappy gas and sitting maybe? We'll see... We're gonna spec it out and check everything out this weekend, meanwhile just for shits, he ordered a new isky cam kit too! Check back later for the results!:D

Pull the heads and do a valve job. Had a chevy engine do that after sitting a couple of years. A stuck valve actually pulled a guide. Ended up pinning all of them.
