Hey guys, searched and searched but can't come up with anything. Wiring in turn signals with brake lights using a simple 3 way toggle switch, have wired it up with the double relays, turn signals work but no brake lights. When the turn signal is flashing and set on the brake just it turns into a brake light any help would be great! Thanks
You need two 1-pole/double throw (1P2T) relays if only running rear turns. If you have front turns and/or dash indicators, those need to be 2P2T relays. Connect your rear turn/brake light for each side to the 'common' on each relay. Connect the brake light power from the brake light switch to the normally closed (NC) contact. The turn power from the flasher goes to the NO contact. Connect your toggle switch (which should be a on/off/on type) so the switch powers up the left or right relay coil. If you have front/dash indicators, connect those to the other common on your 2P relay, and connect the turn power to the other NO contact.
Thanks ill give that a try when I get some of those relays, I was trying to wire in the 5 pole ones with no luck
Here you go... http://www.how-to-build-hotrods.com/turn-signals.html Read all the way to the bottom to see how to do it with toggle switches. It also shows you how to add hazards...
