Does anyone sell the lights to put in the ends of the center chrome grill piece of a 1950 shoe box? My wraparound piece with parking lights are shot. I was thinking about either putting lights in the end of the center grill chrome piece or trimming the round piece of surround and putting the parking light in by itself. Looked on ebay and only found one set and they weren't much better than what I have for 150.00$ I like the 49 Look better anyway
I think the grilles are the same, but the turn signal/park lamp ends are different. Check with http://www.dennis-carpenter.com or http://www.shoebox-central.com Dennis carpenter repops a ton of stuff for the 49-51's and Chris at shoebox central has lots of parts cars, so you might get lucky with some nice used parts.
You may be able to fit 49 park turn lights to a 50 but you will be missing the lower vertical part of the grill surround that goes from light to splash pan. I think our 49 may have has a 50 surround in it when we got it as it had 49 lights but the vertical piece which is an integral part of a 49 was missing making me think it was a 50. The 49 park lights are sculpted to go over the vertical part. If you go to my albums you will see the shoebox as it was a couple of years ago and the vertical side grill part below the park is missing and faked in with some random stainless trim
If I remember correctly, the only parts that interchange between 49 and 50 is the eyebrow over the bullet and maybe the bullet, also the holes on the fenders for the park/turn signals are in different locations and would need to be filled and relocated.
