How about Lucas turn signals? Oh wait, it’s the Lucas vacuum cleaners that don’t suck…never mind.

14 CM = 5.5 inches. That is huge. Most bike turn lights aren't even close to that even the older style Harley Bagger lights that could be mounted using one of the nerf bar mounting holes. I had Asian street bike turn lights on the front of my T bucket back in the mid 70's.

    It's 14cm², i.e. about 1½" x 1½". See post #23.

I have turn signals that really suck. Ron Francis Brite Lites. They don't seem to light up. I tried taking out the bulb and there is no good way to get to them. The lens unscrew but there is no way to grip the retaining ring. With the LED bulb out, they check out fine. Ron should have labeled them as Dim Lites. Looking in their catalog, it appears that I paid $132.95 for them. Ordered new replacement motorcycle lights from Amazon for $30.

Update on my previous rant. I phoned Ron Francis and it appears that my lights are Brite Lite knockoffs. Theirs do not run LEDs. However, the retaining ring has the same flaw.

So I ended up going a different way. Apparently if LED turn signals have an 'E' marking they are acceptable. TBH Im expecting it to be an issue at inspection but fingers crossed. These are tiny and very hard to see until they are on. I was struggling to hide the wiring on the front left then realised I have a number of Alliance tags sitting around so used one of those. Other side will be hidden by the number plate.

Here's a little video of them working. Will link a thread a little later showing the parts etc I used. Whilst a LONG way from 'traditional', being so small makes up for that. That fact the car was built in the 70s helps a little too.

Run the visible wires inside stainless braid

Is there a height requirement in Japan?

consider drilling and tapping the top of the nerf bars and screw on a generic LED motorcycle turn signal
Drill another hole lower and fish the wires through.

  8. Bates motorcycle lights, change the bulb and wiring to 2 element and you can wire them for light and turnsignal. They look the best and some come with glass lenses that wont melt, To me that's the ticket.
