Turning angle for steering, how much?

    Same applies, Ralph, assume no vertical movement at the tie rod ends, and progressively more movement as you move towards the axle. The further back along the rods you go, the less movement there will be, and the less clearance you will need.

    High point of a steer gear is where there is minimum back lash. Usually this is half way between lock to lock, with linkage disconnected. I was setting up a F1 steer gear& could feel, by adjusting the back lash extra tight that the high point was not exactly half way from lock to lock. The housing was cast to allow more degrees of rotation one direction from high point than the other. I set wheels straight ahead on high point, not by half way from one stop of the housing to the other but by feeling the high point. Just something that might be worth checking. Greg
