i just replaced my turn siganl switch on my 55 customline and it wont stay on while im turning is there something im doing wrong it is brand new thanks Bobby Parrish appreciate all the info
Check the cancel collar position. It's a collar under the steering wheel with a notch in it that engages the cancel pawl on the switch. It looks like it's made onto the wheel but it's not.
Mine is out of adjustment, I'm just too lazy to pop the steering wheel off. Great on left turns, shallow right turns I have to hold the lever up. This is the plastic canceling thing on my car. Also look on the bottom of the steering wheel for a canceling plate made of plastic. They get old and brittle.
I doubt it is the cancel ring on steering wheel.there are (or should be)2 springs one is wound around the stub that the stalk screws too the other is on the under side of switch below the oblong box that the wires come from.the wound one helps the cancel action the other holds it in left or right position
thanks i only see one spring its one the little stube do you have a picture of where the other spring goes
hopefully these pics help.one other thing I forgot to mention if that odd looking piece that spring is attached to is missing then it will not work as it is needed.again hope this helps it is the dark piece sorry about flash
