    i got an electrical question.
i have this wiring harness, with this turn signal switch. i think i have it figured out but i would like to check with you guys.
it is throwing me off because of 2 things.
    1. my harness has a turn signal flasher and a hazard flasher circuit. the turnsignal switch is old school with the hazard switch in it. could i get away with just using 1 flasher circuit?
    2. the brake light switch that goes into the turn signal switch. i would assume that this would canncel out the turn signal to that side so some one know that your turning right and stoping, right?

Actually the flasher cancels the brake light on the turn side only. Now maybe the reason for the second flasher for the hazard is so the brake lights cancel out the hazrd lights.

Yes most likely you can, but my limited experience with aftermarket harnesses is that they generally do not actually give you a usefull schematic - it's more of a "hook this wire here" type of deal which is fine when you are not changing anything. In your case - the aftermarket switch is actually pretty elaborate - allowing lots of good stuff to happen. Last time I went through this- my old turn switch was very crude (simple - no hazzard capability) and I had to get creative with the relays to make everything happen.

The best bet (if I had to guess) is for you to do 1 of 2 things - you could explain to the harness manufacturer what you are doing - it's at least conceiveable that one of their techs has been down this road before. OR you could draw it out yourself and go from there - seems like this option is always the one I do - probably because it's harder and I always seem to do things that way ;-(

Good luck & keep us posted!!

Hmnn - the LED's are super low load - so if you use an old school regular flasher I think you have to add the load resistors to your circuit - those usually come with the LED's - if not - search the web - they have all that out there - I just went thru the same firedrill helping a friend, but my memory fails me as to the values.

On my truck I ended up triggering a relay with the flasher - that way the bulb load (on the flasher) would remain the same whether I was hooked up to my trailer or not. I gotta think there's some new fangled solid state flashers that would avoid all this muss...
