Hello, I've been building hot rods and doing custom metal work for years. Started out getting the disease from my father and uncle at age 5 hooked ever since. I have a granddaughter who was diagnosed with cancer at age 5 and beat it .She's now 16 me and a good friend of mine Carl built her a 55 t- bird jr. We made it into a g***er she won many trophies with it best of show, kids choice most likely to get pulled over by a cop. And I am working on a 57 thunderbird now for my self. Plus going to start going over my granddaughters g***er haven't had it running for 6 years. Once I get it running I am going to put it up for sale. She now wants a real hot rod like A.K.A Pop Pop is building. Hence the heading 2 birds in the garage. My 57 bird was a 1 owner barn find from Jersey. Most likely from Hackensack very poor body work and lots of poor workmanship. Don't think that the people who worked on it shouldn't of had tools. Re did motor trans frame and suspension exhaust . 312 four barrel 3 spd. with 9" rear and torque thrust 15" wheels. Exhaust is 2 1/2" with Magna Flow mufflers andmade the original resonators 2 1/2" buy removing the rusted out ends and putting exhaust pipes through and drilling maybe 200 holes in them. Packed them with fibergl*** and welded ends up sounds awesome I will load photos of both t-birds soon. And do a write up on granddaughters little hot rod. Thank you.
My hat is off to you sir. Welcome The creativity you display is that of a true mechanic. A master of metal working. A devotee of family. The choices you have made, since logging on, give me a sense of awe. Glad to see your avatar. It speaks of a man who uses his hands to create. As most of us do, on this board. I feel remorse for using up my youth and good time days helping others to achieve their goals and letting mine wait 'til now. ( although I have driven up down, through, and over 47 states, 3 Provences in Canada and 13 European Countries Now that I have been forced to retire disabled and ill beyond description. ( Ryan prefers that we not use the board for gripes of getting old. Suffice to say that what used to be 6' 1" 170 lbs is now 5'7" 140. taking over 100 pills/wk and tied to a supply of oxygen ) Glad to see you 'Bird'
Welcome from Virginia. It's cool having the family enjoy the Hot Rods too. LOVE your little Jr. bird. My grandkids little Corvette g***er.
