Two different style Louvers with the same Die..

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by redpunk, May 25, 2004.

  1. I just did this post but it doesnt look like it took. I hope I am not making a double post. Some of you guys Im sure already know this but I thought I would post it incase it can help anyone. I was playing with my Louver Machine. I took out the pad and found that it makes the Louvers come out alot more round. So you can acutally get two different Louver shapes with the same die. The first one is the way its suppose to be. A flatter topped Louver. The second is the one with out the pad. Its a more traditional Louver. That is bigger and more round.

  3. That's a neat discovery.

Not to highjack the post, but my cousin had a McCulloch (forerunner of Paxton) blown 55 T-Bird in 56.
Isky cam, trip 2's inside an enclosure box, etc.

The neat thing was the louvered hood with round louvers like you've shown.
The really neat thing was the little louvers - maybe 1 1/2" wide - that were cut into the stock hood scoop/bubble.
I think there were two rows and it sure made for a different looking T-Bird.

  4. C9, that sounds wild. Do you have any pictures of it. Id love to see it..

  5. Wish I did.
    Bitchin car.
Bumper guards removed, pipes under the bumper, blackwalls, Spalding ignition and knowing cousin probably a few more things.
With the auto trans and the aforementioned speed equipment the orange and white car ran 100-101 in the quarter.

I drove it before the blower went on and it was a strong runner.
Course, at 16 years old and an about 6 months old license most anything faster than a dual pipe 50 Ford sedan was fast.

Somewhere along the line, not long after the blower et al I think he stuck some lower gears in it and then it was really quick.
Think he only lost one backroad street race with it.

Interesting part was, he sold the car, the new owner didn't like the rough idle and the truth probably was he couldn't handle the power and he paid cuz to take the goodies off and keep em for the work done.

From what I heard, the new owner thought he was gonna get the girls with the flashy little 'bird, but like cuz said, "he'da done better just waving his wallet out the window...."
