I might take you up on those pulleys, got a similar issue with the sbc and stock radiator in my '51 and thought about running a short pump. Being a Ford guy I'm learning too.

  8. Hey, Andy. Did that tailgate happen to come from the Lockport area? Looks like the one off of FRED. Ask Leroy about it.-MIKE:D

HOLY SHIT! yep, I'm using a bunch of parts from that truck! It was one RUSTY POS. Frame was shot, had an econoline front end under it. I still have the rear glass with the cool old niagara dragstrip decal on it too.

I had to put new leaf springs in my 55 Chevy and I had about 6 inches of snow melt off it while I did it. Not only was I completely soaked, I couldn't feel my ass for 2 days!

WOW!! Looks like it was in a LOT nicer shape then, haha. By the time I got ahold of it, the frame was cracked in half, floor gone, bed shot, I literally removed the front fenders by hand with one good yank. I kept all the glass as it was nice, the hood, the doors are in my shed and are going on mike federspiels chopped F1, the econoline front end went to a kid out in jersey who's putting it on a T roadster, the 9" stayed with the guy I bought the truck from, the CE rear leaf kit is on my truck now, obviously the tailgate too, along with the steering box, battery tray, front leafs, interior panels, radiator support, and hood hinges. I'm afraid to say the rest of fred will probably be reincarnated as a kia or something. It was too far gone to save anything else.

  16. Reminds me of being a real young man.
When it turned cold this year I wussed out and headed for the basement. Good for you, make sure you get warm often enough and don't get yourself sick [double pneumonia 1977, 1954 F-100 engine swap].

    Looks good

Shhhh! They'll jack up the price! lol Actually I just replaced the rear wheel cylinders on my '78 F250. Napa had 'em on the shelf for $9 and change. Thought that was a great price. You won't see that at Checker and its doubtful they'd have 'em on the shelf.
Is it starting to thaw out up there yet?

Gettin' there... Yeah as long as it cools ok it'll be fine, it looks really clean inside.

Today I installed all the brake shoes/cyls/hoses and the last few hard lines. Ready to bleed and the engine is ready to fire as soon as I intall some battery cables... I also put the good door glass and vent windows in, replaced all the fuzzies and channels, swapped out the sloppy latches for nicer ones along with nice tight door handles. Passenger door alignment is still wonky... good thing I don't care, haha! I also picked up all new shackle bolts and bushings for the front end... baby steps... I need a pair of 6.70 or 6.40 x 15 front tires too... blah blah

What type of trans cooler are you using? I just realized yesterday I may have clearance issues installing one on my F1. Also, I was grumbling a little bit because of the heat while working on a fender panel. Then I remembered your thread and the conditions you've been working in, called myself an asshole and told myself to stfu. Thanks for the perspective adjustment.

Haha, no problem! I'm running a little universal one I got at NAPA for like $55 or so, mounts right in front of the radiator.

oh and btw... IT LIVES! Looks pretty bitchin fenderless too, maybe I should find a tractor grille too!;):D

    Dang, I'm filthy, haha

The weather conditions have improves since you started on it! Sounds like it'll be a decent runner, that must be encouraging.

Yesindeed, Brian! Nice to know it actually runs. I spent the rest of today pulling all the front leaf springs apart, cleaning/greasing/reassembling them, installed all new spring/shackle bushings and studs, installed new kingpins/bushings, new cab mount kit, started welding up the exhaust--- and of course, it's sunday so I just had to run out of shielding gas... Oh well, guess that's a job for another day... I'm beat!

I always run out of gas right after I've just gotten back from Tractor Supply to get new spools of wire... I did finally learn to buy TWO spools at a time, so I always have one on the shelf.

  27. I couldn't believe the fresh coating of snow we just got, hope you covered it back up good and congrats on getting it running.

I installed the passenger side running board, what a world of difference! Gotta patch/replace the bottoms of both fenders where the board bolt on. The front lowers were cut off at some point and the rears rotted away completely. Still looking for a crappy driver's side running board.
