I live in SW WY. I do not have a garage. The town will not allow non-operational cars in my drive. My backyard is a 50 degree slope. With winds of 60 to 70 mph, a 'tent' covering is out. Spring is here and we have had snow every weekend and 3 out of 5 weekdays since.

Still, we press on...the latest is a 41 Olds being done in a a storage shed without electric...

After spending all morning at the DMV yesterday, I got plates! Drove it to work, runs awesome! Got my new running board from DE SOTO, installed it... Gotta install a new wood bed floor and this piece is DONE!

Bang up job! The truck sits right, the color, wheels and tires make a great look. Built at home!

The truck looks great, you got me thinking about steelies and whitewalls. On the other hand, with the red dirt we have over here the whitewalls might be red walls before long.

just ffound this thread, cant say how much i know how it feels to work on the snow!
I do every winter, it sucks balls! but the idea that that POS will be ready sometimes soon is enuff to motivatte me.
You been fast thou, youre already drivin it and it was just a matter of months ago.
    Stance looks spot on!

  17. Looks good - you are certainly dedicated working in the conditions you have been I'll tell you that, but with a pretty nice result and fast! I kinda like that color, BTW - what is it called?

Thanks fellas, I took her out after work today and smoked the hides a bit... The damn pos really does run surprisingly well for being put together out of a bunch of freebies, leftovers, and el-cheepo parts!

haha, that roadster sure is fine, but the ranchie is a POS! :D:D:D Speaking of which, we're definitely coming down Sunday to grab that old heap o' '57 ford. Jim's grabbing an early olds motor in Milton if you wanna scoot down with us.

thanks Tom, the color is called "2 parts ford tractor blue to 1 part flat black" apply with a cheap brush until patchy and uneven...hahah!:D

Also whipped up a trans cover, a much more comfortable ride without road grit and hot engine fumes blowing in your face.

Had to make some cutouts for the frame kickups... First thing I did when I got the bed floor in was make a scrap run, cha-ching! Jalopy Showdown gas money!

Andy, you've inspired my to build a beater/shop truck. I had a nice '50 chevy 3600, but sold it a while back. Then I had this real ratty '52 F1, but some one else got there hands on it.... I know of 2 effies between my house and the shop, I should check on them one day.

By the way, how did you run your exhaust?

Get to it Joe! Exhaust runs under the trans crossmember into a pair of smithys and dumps just under the rear of the running boards.

Just read this thread all the way through I am really impressed how fast this came together and that most of the hard stuff was done in the snow!!!My piece of crap just keeps sitting there dammit - I am going to work on it this weekend for sure...thanks for the inspiration!
