    While being drunk and and disorderly last night a friend told me about this cartoon he saw many years ago, The story as he, and now me, remembers it was;

Two taxicabs fell in love, got married and had a child. This juvenile delinquint turned out to be a Hot Rod. Laid in bed at nights reading Hor Rod Magazine and stayed out late racing the streets and so on.

One night his dad where out to find him and got stuck on a railroad crossing.
Baby Hot Rod pushes dad off the tracks but manages to get run over by the train. In the hospital he is treated as a hero and gets to chose his new bodywork. He comes back as a taxi like his mom and dad.
In the last seen you see him lift the hood and reveals he still has the hopped up flatty.

    Anyone knows about this?
    What's it called?
    What company?
    Does anyone have it?

    /Mikael

  2. Yep, I remember that toon, maybe a looney toon, one of my favorites. The kid had a coon tail on an antenna, loud pipes and whitewalls.

There was another one something like it where the parents were prop planes and the kid was a Jet.

I couldn't stand not know what it was called so i did about 2 minutes of research and found it.

    http://www.bcdb.com/bcdb/cartoon.cgi?film=3056

    Its called "one cab's family".

    It was made in 1952.

They also had one called "little johnny jet" and disney had one called "Suzy the little blue coupe"

I remember "Suzy the little blue coupe"....I think. Is that the one where we get to see the car go through its life from showroom new to the junkyard? The junkyard of course made the car very sad....but a hot rodder comes along and saves it, which makes the car very very happy!

Is that how that one goes?

I do not remember ever seeing the cab cartoon, but I would love to. I do remember the jet one though. Those old cartoons are so cool. I can't wait to share them with my kids!

  11. I remember that one well. It's a Hanna-Barberra (or however you spell their names) and was run with the Tom & Jerry original cartoons. If you have digital cable or satellite and get the Boomerang channel (part of Cartoon Network) you may be able to catch it when they run Tom & Jerry. (Which incedentally they did butcher Tom & Jerry to make the black woman in some of the toons sound more modern than the Butterfly McQueen-ish voice she used to have, so don't be too shocked if you sit through with the kids). Given those and the older Warner Brothers are about the best cartoons ever made and run circles around most of today's crap, if you're going to sit with your kids and watch something they'd be a good choice anyhow.

Your kids will laugh at this one when the dad taxi spanks the kid for putting the hot rod body on - by lifting the trunk like the trapdoor on a pair of old-fashioned long johns, where a very human looking rearend is found to paddle.

Little Johnny Jet... I still laugh at that one when I happen to see it. When he pushes his dad through the blimp and it's like a watermelon inside... lol.. If people reading this have never seen it I won't spoil it, but it's one of the funniest ones they ever did IMHO...

That cartoon was AWESOME! Like was already stated, he finally makes his disapproving dad proud by looking like a taxi, but he keeps his hot rod stuff under the shell.
It illustrates that you can can cover up who you are on the outside and conform but also stay true to who you really are.

Thre is an episode of toonheads that has both the jet and car cartoon. Keep an eye out for it on either boomerang or cartoon network. I love em both, and really enjoy Tex Avery in general. Jay:D

    HAHA. I remember that.

Do any of you remember the speedy little taxi? It was a book with a record & the record would beep so you had to turn the page. It was about a taxi that would always get to fires before the fire chief. HMMM.

I think I wore that record out when I was a kid.

I remember the cartoon pretty well. They used to have like a Tex Avery saturday on cartoon network and I remember one like it but instead of cars it was WWII bombers. They were in a race around the world or soemthing and the kid was a mig jet. The father ran out of fuel or something like that and the kid busted ass to go get it and refuel. It ended up winning the race unpredictably...lol

Both were cool toons. Man I wished I could see em again
