    Hello,

When we were growing up our cousins lived around the block from us. we used to go over to their house with our parents for a visit. While the adults were talking and eating fabulous snacks, we were outside in the cousin’s mom’s 50 Chevy sedan messing around. We pretended to be driving all over So Cal and along the ocean front. Something we all planned on doing as we got our driver’s licenses.

But, for that time period, our brains and the 50 Chevy sedan was our playground. Moving the seats forward, shifting the gears using the clutch and gas pedal, contests on who could shift the fastest, etc. all kid stuff when we all got together. Two sets of brothers inside of the 50 Chevy sedan. Then one of the adults would come outside and shoo us away into the backyard to continue our play.

After my brother got his first car in 1956, it took awhile, but our cousins came cruising up in their new 56 4 door, two tone Chevy hardtop. They had access to the 56 Chevy while my brother was now into the model a coupe we just bought for our first hot rod project.

Then one day, we were all going to a wedding and it was captured on film.

The turquoise and white two tone 1956 Chevy hardtop sedan stopped by to say hello, etc. As teenagers, the small changes to the Chevy sedans were: no full hubcaps for the 58 Chevy Impala and the 56 Chevy hardtop had small round hubcaps along with the stock two tone paint.

Our other teenage friend had a turquoise and white two door hardtop 1956 Chevy Bel Air Sedan. He was more into a lowered rake and powerful motor stage. Everyone thought he had a mild upgrade to a 283 with dual quads. But, rumor was out that he had a Reath Automotive Stroker Kit and actually had a 352 c.i. bored and stroked motor that looked like a stock 265 motor from the factory. (It was fast...)YRMV

    Note 2:
Watch the powershift as the front end of the two tone paint goes up on acceleration and shifts to the next gear.
