O-kay if anybody gives a shit here's my 2 cents.

I read the first 2 pages and skimmed over the rest so I may be too late fer the right ansewer to yer question.

The 6yh is iffy fer me due to $$$ and time.

But the Outkasts are having our third annual X-mas party at White's Garage in Trinity Texas Dec. 27th. One possible band to play is the Luxurious Panthers (still waiting on word back from Buddy).

Guaranteed no scenesters cuz it's too goddamn far away!
But also fewer people to buy yer swank [IMG]

But Outlaw and modernbeat and a few other HAMBers can vouch fer the laidback cool vibe that is doin whatever ya goddamn want ta do on 50 acres in da country, bring yer guns and heavy artillery!.

BR needs ta chime in on this cuz it's his place.

Like I said my 2 cents.

  9. So Johnny, what is the final verdict...?

Johnny, here is my take on this whole subject......
First, where I live,I aint lucky enuff to have the companionship of some great talent to surround me.....painters,stripers,artist types alike..shit man..there aint nobody around here that is into my vibe!(With a BIG exception to Unkl Ian.....give me a ring and help me deal with this cultural shithole we call home!)
The venue is yer call and I say Keep it light.....Unless the kat who owns the CC will accomadate your wishes and concerns.Yea,he is a business man and he needs to make hay but with sounds of the past, there will be no doubt of that.
You know what Ed wanted and I say... stay the course.....deep down ALL artists want recognition...to produce and show there visions, whether it be paint, digital, photography, sculpture or any other medium.I think this is opportunity for some like-minded creatures to get together and gel.
If some so-called KUSTOM KULTURE wannabes are trying to get famous.......fuck'em.....there is a ton of rubiks cubes and pet rocks on the market......they get so fuck'in famous walmart will be sell'in there wares. And speaking of famous,Elvis was famous and he died on the shitter, pumped full of beans and couldn't leave graceland..yea I wanna sell lighters and coasters with big fat naked nuns......WOW there's talent.
To the folks on this board,I do art for a liv'in.yea it aint some devil girl gett'in T-boned by some robot.....the shit I do is commercial in the highest sense......A lot of these so called KK artists dont even give the time of day,,,,,,yea,I tried to contact them and try to get some artistic love going.....the ones with talent....and they either shit there pants think'in I WANT SOMETHING or I'M gonna STEAL THERE FUCKIN MARKET.
Gimme a break..there fuckin posers.....and dont get me started with the ones that have NO talent.......Just go the the Copra Nason gallery website.....what a pile of crap!!!!! Hey robt. williams......look what ya spawned.
I wish I could get closer to you guys......JOHNNY,Barnett,Hami,Foiled Again, TUCk and all the other FANTASTIC CREATIVE TYPES ON THIS BOARD.......(To all I have missed..forgive me,your in my thoughts!)
.....So Johnny my friend, get as many of the crew, as many that will come and make it your deal......As said on this post, there is alot of cow dung reach'in to be king shit and to make the "connection to be the next Juxtapose pin-up.
.....I just wish I could be hangin with YOU guys......

    .....I need a drink.

    Jeff....
THANK YOU for shining even more light on the subject...and having the mooseballs to point out what I've been telling Robt for awhile now....Stuff he doesn't necessarily like to hear....
Who am I to speak to him like that? He worked for BDR for almost 5 years...I,for approx. 20.......
This post has taken a few turns, and all joking aside, it does address a very deep principle....
The leeching off of a Great Man by the majority out there. But not by US...not Texans. Not the people I call friends.
If we gather in spirit, that's fine...But not a Rat Fink party...This has been a LONG TIME COMING in my heart...
If this board has taught me anything,it has been that the door is NOT wide open...there should be history,loyalty,honesty,integrity....then comes acceptance and humor.....
The network of cling-ons,media darlings, and "heirs to the legacy" of Ed's name that exist and thrive will probably continue to do so....My rants will not change that.
But it has to start somewhere....Ed loved Texas, at least we can keep things honest.
I like the CC....I have no control over club policy,though...I have the same concerns Dan has over too many vendors....That would be Steve W.s' change....I would respect him all the more if he did address that issue.
He is the only club owner in Houston that I trust enough to even go to with my concerns.
So, for the record, it's not about using Roth's name anymore...it's about creating a gathering with OUR OWN NAME and SPIRIT.

Your deal.Your the boss......all respect given and You know I mean that.....I can only say again that you are surrounded by Many talented people WHO are your friends and associates....they understand....they will support......I stand by what I say......ya gotta understand, around here I could,nt even imagine a venue to even show the type of art I like....In some trendy danc-a teria......sheesh!!!!......
.......I'm gonna go kolor my new Coop koloring book and try to stay in the lines.....

    Ok guys a few points.

    1. It's getting late better make a decision.

    2. CC Houston, Steve suggested having a swap and bop goining on in conjunction with the "Rat Fink Party" to draw in more potential customers for the artists and the club, the club has to make money because it is a business.

3 If you want to have a privet only us aloud party that's great. Then it should be held at a garage, Hans' or Rics'.

    4. If you’re looking to jump start things in H-town the elitist path is not going to help things. The reason events in Austin are a success is every one and any one is welcome. Sceanster, hippy, yuppie, rockabilly, punk, we don't care. Come on and enjoy the cars, music and art with us and all we ask is you act your age and be cool with every body while you do it.

This attitude helps get more real people involved. The dippy kid in the VDO shirt standing around trying his damndest to look like Jesse James might just need some guidance. He might just need to buy a small Johnny Ace piece to show him what low-brow art really means. He needs to see that there are guys building cool cars right in his neck of the woods and those guys are down to earth dudes and maybe he’ll become a hot rodder too. Y'all dig what I'm saying? Of course he could turn out to be a “sceanster shit head”™ all his life but at least you gave him a shot.

Lastly Steve W. (El Jefe) is a bit busy with Family matters right now. His father past away un expectantly right after the Day of the Drags so please understand if he is hard to get a hold of right now.

Steve is ready to do it at the club; He has bands ready to go all afternoon and at the club that night.
The Austin Kontinentals are ready to make the drive and hang with our Houston brothers.

The Red Light girls could be walking the crowd but as for them putting on their show, like we’ve said in the past, it’s very expensive. That’s why it only happens a couple times a year in Austin, and it costs so much to get in.

    Johnny-

Go ahead and have it at the CC. If you need to brainstorm the entire event name and location, do it for the next one.
As of right now it is only a couple of weeks out. Honestly, I would call it the Rat Fink party this go round and think about renaming it for next years event...
I will try my danmdest to make it down next month.
You could always call it the "Fat Rink party"....

    Thanks Krupanut...
Yes, I understand about Steves' personal loss.My respects and deepest sympathies go out to him and his family. The last thing I want to do is bother him with this at a time like this.....
Krupa, you make good points, and I do appreciate the support all the Kontinentals are showing...That's why I want to try and make sure Fatlucky and wife, EFC's FlyRite choppers, etc are not crowded out by vintage dress merchants and coop stickers....I want to make sure Dan B has room for his paint kit ....But if everyone is cool with things, let's consider it a done deal and use the next couple of weeks as best we can to promote it.
    Things to do list:

Pick a fuggin' name already so we can print posters

Decide if we will have a pre-show paint session at Hans' Friday night...

Get the okay for a HAMB auction?

Find replacement nekkid chicks to ....well,to do whatever the hell they want!

    Names?
    " Germ's Acid Love Splooge Letter to So-Cal "
"Dan Barnett 1 Shot Invitational "
"Johnny Ace is a SCHIZO with an Obsession for Hot Pants Art Show"
"Gothic Sluts Who Spank each other on top of coffins Hearse Show"
    or...

Texas Hot Rod and Kustom Buck-Off.....

I was thinking the name should lean towards more of an art show than a hot rod show. Just a thought. The pre-party at Hans' on friday and CC for the rest sounds like a good idea. The friday thing at Hans' might be some time for the artists to get around and live it up a bit, instead of sitting behind a booth / table all night. They'll be doing that sat. night anyway.
    more ideas.. serious this time.
"The Texas One-Shot Swap & Bop"
    "The Lowbrow Hoedown"
    "Rats and Rat Rods"
well I do know my mexican slang words for hot rods etc., but something with a mexican fling to it might work too. "somethin something De Tejas"

  22. I've said it before and now I'll say it again...I'll do my best to be there, WHEREVER it is held, to support Johnny and Kali in their quest to unify local/semi-local artists, stripers letterers, etc.

I don't, however, think ANYONE is trying to be elitist about this. I know that some of us are more interested in having FUN and hanging out with like minded people and learning a thing or two in the process. Kinda like the "LetterHead" and "PinHead" meets all over the world...they're not elitist, they're about learning and doing. Quite honstly (and I'm speaking strictly for myself, here) I don't really care if things get jump started in Houston or not.

I think you will find that One-Shot and 1-Shot are copyrighted names, just like Rat Fink and Von Dutch.
1-Shot and their parent company,Spraylat, are loyal longtime supporters of the Letterheads and Pinheads;but they might not want their name used without their permission.

How about: --- Texas Tiki Tornado and Monster Chili Cookoff -- Cool artists and Hot Chili
