Thanks for the honest assessment. I built that axle out of 4130 after pretzeling a mild steel axle from wheelstanding the car. It has withstood repeated, high wheelstands for the last three years, so I must have done something right,LOL.
Here's a bike frame that I built in my garage out of 3al-2.5v titanium. I've been beating on it in the local mountains for the last 12 years. I suppose this welding looks cold too,LOL.

How does the Miller 180 work on frame welds? I noticed a few of you guys have said you have one.

    Thanks

If you have good welding skills and the metal is sound almost any machine can be used. An old Lincoln 225 AC machine will do any frame job you need. It will also teach you how to use a grinder.

I have TIG, MIG and stick machines as well as a plasma cutter and O/A torch and each has specific qualities. Mostly I use mt Lincoln 175+ MIG for most welding jobs. It is quick and clean.

  6. Good to hear Aagie, I have a Lincoln 175 MIG as well.

I haven't ventured down this road yet, but everyone has given a lot of good info, for
when I finally break down and get myself a welder or two. I plan on practicing on some
work benches or making some furniture or something, before I start welding on my frame.
