I’m trying to figure out what u-bolts to use on a ‘56 Ford station wagon rear axle. Nobody seems to list one, but I’m trying to make an educated guess based on the following information from MAC's Antique Auto Parts:

MA-5705-F is the part number that fits the 1949-56 p***enger cars except the wagon and sedan delivery. I believe that’s because the axle tube on the wagon / delivery axle (Dana 44) is thicker. B5S-5705 is the part number for a 1955-56 Thunderbird. I believe the Thunderbird used the same rear axle as the wagon and sedan delivery. B7A-5705-A is also listed as fitting 1955-57 Thunderbirds (it’s a ‘57 part number, but must replace B5S-5705). B7A-5705-A is also listed for all 1957-59 Ford p***enger cars (Ford 9").

Is it a correct ***umption that B7A-5705-A intended for a '57 Ford 9" will fit a ‘56 Dana 44 wagon axle, then?

I bought my u-bolts at Napa. You just need to know the size, width and length.

most parts stores can use the u-joint # your car uses to get the proper u bolts.

Well actually you just might have the U joint that is an all in one unit and is part of the universal . The 50's shoebox had them along with 55 & 56 Fords as well .
So you better check to make sure you aren't looking for the part that isn't going to work . that's just might be why no body can find them .
They are about $50 to $60 for the set up and can be found at MACS , Dennis Carpenter and a few others .
Look them up and you will see what I am talking about !
    I have drive shafts here at my garage from a 49 , 50 , 55 , 56, 57 Fords and they are all the same !

Just to be clear, I'm searching for the u-bolts that connect the spring packs to the axle housing, not the u-bolts that connect the u-joint to the driveshaft and pinion snout.

I also just realized that I didn't get spring plates to go with the axle, so I'll be searching for those too.
