Hot Rods U-Joint

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by coololdcars, Mar 1, 2018.

  1. I bet one of you guys has paired a Chevy trans / driveshaft to a 57 Olds rear. Can you remember what U-joint it needs??

Just measure the diameter of the caps on the shaft and the rear end and the width of where the camp sit in the shaft and pinion flange. Then go to NAPA and with that info they can find a U joint. May need a combination joint if the width and cap diameters are different from each other.

  3. Definitely need a combo

Do you have a bearing supply place near you? Those guys are usually great to work with. They can look the info up quickly, they can even read a parts book. Most times they can walk in the back room and come out with the right part, in less time than it took me to type this.
