I didn't know that we were shipping the containers back. I'd heard a while back that it cost too much to send them back. All I can say is that there alot empty containers up the road.

Wanted to add a USA manufacturer to this, American Rebel MFG.

I met these guys Saturday at the LA Roadster show. Juan and I presume his daughter had a booth set up inside the vendors area. Extremely nice people and they have something to offer here.

They do long and short production run low pressure aluminum casting and machining. I ran a few ideas past him and he is very much on board with the sentiment of keeping hot rod parts made in the USA. Very good quality castings, great machine work AND quality control.

I'm exercising my brain trying to think of stuff for him to cast!

Here is something made in the USA. I think?

They make a lot of reproduction name plates, emblems and badges. I gotta get one of the bomb plates:cool:

Ummm, kinda is the truth from where I used to sit. I used to deliver heat treated parts to shops & I could tell you the union shop every time by the attitude when I backed the trailer in the dock. They worked a LOT harder at NOT doing the job then it would actually take to just do it & be done. I will still take the time to find USA made tools & parts and never bitch about the extra price.

  6. I have been around and worked in union shops where the people doing the job worked thier ass off and been in other union shops where there were too many workers and most of them just milling around. A lot of that is management. Union or otherwise if you don't inspire your people to work they will probably not work.

I have to say it is not just union shops that are like what I described, it is across the board no union shops as well.

Made in America or better said made in the United States of America (anything manufactured on this continent is made in America) does not necessarily mean made by lazy over paid workers. You can still by things that are reasonably priced and of good quality. You have to look around.

Everyone should be like a mouse. If the people in the house move out and there is no more cheese to be had the mouse will look elsewhere. If you go to the normal place to get stuff and you do not find the stuff you want you will also have to look elsewhere.

Not to get on an environmental tangent, because I love my big gas sucking v8's, but when you run the math on fuel consumption per hour of the cargo ships that bring everything over, and combine that with the fact that said ships burn bunker fuel, which is much dirtier and contains more pollutants than regular gas, diesel or even marine diesel, the imported parts that make up our hybrid cars and eco-friendly products aren't actually so eco-friendly... You're both right. They only 'care' about the environment at a marketing level.

I would hazard to bet that the environmental impact of shipping over just one Toyota Prius is greater than the impact that my '69 Firebird and my '34 Ford will have in their entire life span.

I totally agree, hybrid and electric cars are a scam. What do they do with the batteries at the end of life? Not to mention 5 years on the batteries and another 5 grand to get you going! Who is going to spend another 5 grand on a Prius after spending a premium to start with. This is a total crock of BS.

Your better off buying a new Camaro, Mustang or Charger, or better yet do what we do build some great old iron to drive. JMHO

Hmm.. Japan vs China.. And which one of these countries is Communist..?
Sometimes, I think our gov't wants to do the same with us, and have us
depend on them for our every need. Then they can control us, and our $$.
Control the banks, the internet, and the medical system..

On a side note, I was in Lowe's and came across a very nice looking
Porter Cable impact drill. I've wanted one for a while and picked up the box
to read the label. I was happy to see that it was from Tennessee. Then not
happy to see that it was made, in China. I felt like they were trying to
trick you or something, with the Tennessee address. Bummer...

Yeah, the manufacturers have gotten tricky about really making you work to find where something is truly made.BTW,I just read that Master Lock moved their production back to the U.S.
