Can you please stop putting those links up? At least until I have learnt how to un-see things.

    Amen.

As far as the car goes, yeah that's godawful. I guess it is possible to make a 58-60 Lincoln substantially uglier although it does take some doing it would seem.

Before anyone jumps at me, I'm sitting here looking at my Lincoln parked outside my office.

There still are some skilled builders in New Jersey, actually. I know of at least two. But I digress ...

I think the Lincoln is definitely bizarre and pushing the boundaries of good taste ... but, hey, I think that was the point!

When I saw the picture of it in good condition, it put a smile on my face. Made me roll my eyes a little, but that's not such a bad thing. So I would call it a successful custom in its own way.

Oh, without a doubt there are some great builders here currently...I only used past tense in relation to the car in question..the fact of the matter is, "ugly" rods and customs came out of every state, and many quality , respected shops..many times it was because cars were built the way customers wanted them, the shops had to make money, thats done by pleasing your customers...

  10. Yeah, that BMW was funky. What I DID like about that episode was all of the incredible motorcycles in that guy's collection. I love original, obscure pre-war motorcycles, and that Flying Merkel was bad***.

YOU could buy Bondo in 55 gallon barrels back then? I don't think the stucco on my old house was that thick.

  15. The proportions on the custom are not bad, it's the details that make it puke-worthy. That era Lincolns kinda had the same idea, take a big, flat slab of a car, and put all sorts of unrelated details all over them.

This car sighed with relief when the crusher came down on it.

everything was fair game back in the day, when it came to kustoms, so it's not all that ugly.. it's amazing that any customs from the 50s and 60s even exists at all today.. there's one for sale in Hemmings in the Customs and Hot Rods section that has lasted through today, an early 50s Ford shoebox with canted quads, so few of them lasted when the interest died down or the guys either got married or went off to war..

Don't you collect Roth creations? Is that the last time you had it out of the garage?

I remember seeing something on a thread here, maybe a couple of years back. My thought was "How could they have that ability and still decided it was a good idea."

The trunk lid is probably the ugliest thing on there. Really a Merc or Linc breezeway would be ideal for a custom rumble seat.
