Why not contact the police department in the city where he wants you to send the money and ask if they can have an officer stop and knock on that address door ?
Give them the info via email as to why you think he is scamming you, and tell them all you want is to verify who lives at that address and maybe throw a scare into them.....

 

They might only do that in a really small town. In my town cops don't even show up for vehicle thefts. They take your info over the phone.

Yes, if its a small amount......probably move on.....But I was thinking about the next person he does this too. If we want a decent society to live in we have to be at least willing to put a little effort into it. The guy that got me has a pretty good chance of going back to prison again, and at the very least he has to spend some time in jail and pay a lawyer......and he won't be scamming anyone for a while. It's not about getting even or even getting my money back,
it's about making him think about what will happen if he get's caught again. ...or in your case making him see that not everyone will just give him a p***.
