Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Uncle Pancakes, Jul 7, 2005.

  1. Hope all the UK HAMB brothers & sisters are ok and were not directly affected by the terrorist attacks in London...I know this is OT but I know a lot of really cool car folks over there and just hope you are all ok and my heart goes out to those who were hit by this......

I'm about 120 miles away in Birmingham, the TV and radio networks have blanket coverage at the moment, but the facts are still to emerge. It's not looking good regarding casualties though.
Our emergency services are the best in the world at dealing with incidents such as these, we have been subjected to mainland terrorism for 30 years from various incarnations of the Irish republican movement (until quite recently) and our police, hospitals and fire services are well drilled.

  5. Artiki: What sections of London did this happen in? I have friends who live in Walthamstow but work off Oxford street & friends who live near Angel Islington too.. I am really sickened to hear the death toll is rising as our initial reports said only two were killed, I'm stuck at work so can't call to see how everyone is......

That ****s that you guys are practiced at this.
Two days ago I re-established contact with a friend who writes for a car mag over there. It's been two years since we talked last, and now we have to talk about this.

I can't begin to tell you how sad I am this happened to you guys. I hope one day we'll be able to stamp out terrorists so this is all a distant memory.

  7. What a thing to wake up to...with the time difference I just found out, I can't believe it. Hope everyone's ok?

I just made a couple of Trans-Atlantic calls to friends who work in London, they are all ok, but its chaos over there at the moment.

It all happened on the transport system around the centre of London during rush-hour, near to the Hyde Park area. Three explosions have happened on the Underground system and one bomb has gone off on the top deck of a London Bus.

The latest is that 33 are confirmed dead with over 300 injured, some critically. A hospital representative was interviewed a little while ago and spoke of treating many for limb amputations, flying gl*** injuries and blast injuries.

This **** really ****s i couldn't believe hearing about this today, & didn't realize the scale of it until i saw the bomb squad on their way to our railway stn about mid morning, apparently they are taking no chances & carried out a controlled explosion on a su****ious package. I am about 70 miles west of London but have many friends & family there.

Trouble is with this country there's an open door for the lowlife s*** that cause this kind of trouble, the sad thing is it takes something like this to change things!

I was in London last nite at the ACE cafe for the executioners hotrod nite ,I met Cherry (jimmy deans girl) and jap Chris and a few other Hambers from the uk.Cherry seemed real nice n sweet hope she's ok and not too frightened .Us English are quite used to this sort of thing especially us Londoners who grew up around it.We English have been Bombed for years and the devestation to families by these ****ing cowardly *******s is terrible but we will rally round as usual and give em the old British stiff upper lip. It's about time we had the death penalty back for these ****ers so when they get caught (if they aint suicide)they get strung up and left to rot on tower hill like the old days so they can have the flesh eaten off their bones and their eyes pecked out by crows.............****ers ****ers ****ers.................Sorry for the rant but i'm very upset at the moment but i'm alive and ok,pity some others are not ok................Marq

  14. you get so many conflicting reports in situations like this, but the TV news channels are stating that Al queida (sp) have claimed responsibility.....one other disturbing report is that the bus was blown up by a suicide bomber....*******s

I don't understand this needless voilence. I grew up in post war Europe, and I thought that after Hitler, all crazy men are gone, and we could all live in peace.

My heart and thoughts goes to all affected.

  16. I am not surprised to hear the possiblity of suicide bombers being involved, as horrible a thought as it is I'm really surprised that we have not had more incidents like this one here in the states.

My thoughts and prayers to all those who have been affected by this horrible act of cowardice.

I just talked to Cherry and she said that she was OK but that everything was blocked off and I could hear sirens everywhere. She is living in Camden in Russel Square and her school is right next to taverstock so she got bookended by two of the blasts. She also said that she was going to take the bus this morning that was going to taverstock square to go to school but decided to walk at the last minuet...THANK ****ING GOD!

Relieved that Cherry is ok. Having chatted with her at the Ace Cafe last night, my friends dropped her off at Russel Square, then this happens this morning and no way to contact her.
Nads - Vince and Michelle gave her a lift home in the Chevy as they live round the corner - they're OK too.

Had the worst two hours of my life this morning , my sister usually catches one of the trains that was bombed . Turned out she'd gone in early , but the cell phone networks all overloaded and it took me two hours to reach her . She's sleeping at the office tonight as there's no way she'll get home with the trains out .
Glad to hear Cherry's safe and sound , had no idea her dorm was so near to the incident til Chris called me earlier ...

It's a real ****ter when these things happen, i really can't get my head round why/how people can kill innocent people. It doesn't get anywhere excepts takes loved ones away. When has it ever got them anywhere?? and more so when is it going to stop:(

They are now thinking the bus bomb was heading for another part of the tube as the p***engers were from the tube which had been turned away.

Glad other hambers are ok. I'm lucky living out in the country, wre not targets.

  27. Just heard from my Sister that one of my cousins who works in central London missed his train this morning as there was a longer line at S*arbucks than normal....it was one of the trains that was bombed.

Who are these a-holes who decide who should die or live, They- whoever they are should have the same happen to them, there is absolutely no forgiveness for anything of this proportion. I hope that they will be found if they didn't give their life for their cause, and will be brought to justice! Punks!

I don't think anyone can consider themselves to be not a target, other than those that didn't get involved in a war that a huge number of Brit's protested against before it started.

Anyway...enough from me on this topic. I just feel so sad this evening. I was meant to be going on a rod run this evening but I just don't even feel like walking up to the garage.
