Hi there, my name is Simon from London, England. I am in the final stages of building my model A dirt track car. Having started the project in the late 1990's, one divorce and several girlfriends later, the beast is finally coming to life ( I am talking about the car by the way). I put it into storage for many years and have spent the last 3 years getting it into the present condition.
The current engine is a model "B" with a Riley 2 port head from Charlie Yapp, full pressure oil, shell bearing bottom end and a Jim Brierley cam. 2 x 94's on a Yapp manifold, V8 clutch and lightened flywheel amongst the modifications. I may well build a model "A" lump over the winter to make the thing a bit more authentic (in the eyes of the VSCC). Tyres are Blockley's on B rims. Have had it running but as yet not turned a wheel on tarmac or dirt!! Upholstery will be in red leather, another thing I have to learn to do, but am getting there!! Anyway, I hope to have it on the road fairly soon, and would appreciate any comments, good or bad, as to what you think. Great forums by the way, and the amount of knowledge and enthusiasm out there is awsome!! Thank you.
P.S. Most of the work has been done outside under an awning, no garage or workshop so needs must!! A special thank you to Carl and Karen for the use of their garden.......:)
