I have a 32 ford 5 window coupe. The other day when my friend told me about the winters grille he had got me thinking? What if I knew all the cool people with all the cool parts. If I took my coupe put the winter's on it, E&J headlights, and 25 louver hood. Now what? What are the supper cool parts, ultra rare, the most ultimate old timey stuff?
You have a '32 Ford 5 window coupe. That is about the coolest thing you can own and you have it already. A step further might be Ardun Heads on a Flatty, Culver City Quickchange, Auburn Dash etc. I don't think the car is guaranteed to be cool by just using the rare parts. It's a balance of the right ones for your car. I love Winterfront Grilles but they are not something that was common on Cali cars.
You would end up with an 'o8 "quintessential hot rod" sporting enough stuff to build a dozen tasteful ones. Yuck.
THere was a car on here a while back. 3 win coupe with blown ardun-headed flattie, kinmonts, etc... Seems like the guy was putting on every rare part you could have. It seemed surreal. I couldn't find the thread just now, but it was a lot of $$.
Less is more, they took stuff off not added "trinkets " to the cars , that was what the East LA Lowriders did, the more Chevy accessories you had ( on your Chevy )the further up the food chain you went . Hot Rods were stripped for speed end of.
Yup...it looks like a gold-chainer got schooled for about an hour on the meaning of traditional, and skipped the rest of class...and therefore has none...
Ewww! E&J's are a quick way to make ANY car ugly!! It used to be, so I'm told, that hot rods were purpose-built machines...cars built for performance with a minimalistic mindset. The ones that did have that oh-so-cool vintage speed equipment included were dones so because it's what worked at the time, but the 'less is more' theory was still practiced. Speed parts were cool, "trinkets" were (are) gay! Of course, nowadays 'traditional' hot rods are getting more like Christmas trees! Everyone wants to decorate theirs better than anyone else!!!
Don't think so serious. I didn't say cool car I said all the cool parts, meaning hard to find or very expensive. Just one over the top car that you would say "it's got some neat stuff, but"
From what I see nowadays, a lot of people have forgotten that hot rods are all about showing others your taillights. Geezus . . . there's more to it than havin an engine dependable enough to get you to the rod run on Saturday nights . . . then spend three hours cooling down to get you the 3 miles home....
I've got a '32 Ford and you couldn't pay me to put on E&J headlights, a winterfront grille, 25 louver hood sides or any number of other "rare" items. Everybody's got to do their own thing, I simply don't like the looks of any of those items. I run what I run because I run what I like.
I think the ultimate car achieves your "super cool" status with out having to rely all those rare parts. but it has to go fast and be reliable. my opinion.
if you want a 32 that is done well with the right parts and is detailed to the max... just have HOTRODPRO here on the hamb make one for you that guy is the master of detail so have the rare parts ready and have him deside which ones he can work in to his build tk
Myke ( fellow HAMBER ) ... his 32 coupe has what a lot of folks consider the ULTIMATE goodies ... A well dressed FLATTIE ... The right rear end ... Some folks like the Pines Winter Front ... ( here is the South ... I NEVER saw one on a regular 32 ... back in the day ). Early style hood latches ( but not to be used with a later only 25 vent hood ) Neat old timey seats ... I sent him the wood patterns And a 25 vent hood is COOL ... in more ways than just cool. They actually were designed by Henry and the boys to help cool down the flathead V8. They were issued on August the 18th, 1932 ... to go on warm climate 32's with V8's. They also were on some commercial vehicles ... made after 8/18/32. They reduce the underhood ambient temperature up to 30 degrees ... which in turn helps lower the engine operating temperatures.
It's not how many cool thing's you have in your build...It using just the right parts regardless of rarity and how they are all joined together that makes it cool.. but that's pretty much been said hasn't it I really do like the Winters grill...but the E/J's..normally make me throw up a little in my mouth. Sorry
