    hmmm 2 cents worth..

600 acres takes about 40 minutes or less to cross on a horse. longer if it is dead...

a barn usually is built to hold hay and cows etc. Not sure hay is havested by hand in Alaska but getting a tractor into do that by helicopter in the 40s/50s?? sounds nutty.

One barn large enough to hold that many cars does not seem right in the middle of nowhere.
    Story makes you dream though....

  2. he said it was accessable at one point but the roads were just gone. dirt roads i recon.

i usually dont post stuff like this, but i cant help it.im tired of these barn finds, and when its a 32 ford, you guys get all stupid about it.if it was somthing speacial, somthing with some histery behind it,then id concider looking at it.if somone gave me a 32 ford,id sell it.it not the car, its all of you .id sell that car and buy a 33,i think they look better anyways.its easy for somone to pull the sheats over your heads, and you guys fell for it.but if it is true, whoopty doo !good for him !

Give us the location and let's google view and see this barn. shouldn't be too hard to spot a barn that big out in the middle of nowhere.

  6. they were in the biggest of the several barns he had, he was very unusal about photos of the expensive stuff, not to mention he had some early race cars he wouldnt alow anyone to see. ive run into people like that over the years and its always a little strange. but i tell you what if i had the space and some money, im the same kind of*****er who would have 500 cars if i could...

I know someone who had at least 10 model As in an old barn, and that doesn't count the ones up in the hay loft. There were also 2 '39 Fords, and a '40 Ford plus a '65 Mustang. All of them but a few have been sold off.

Now at his house which is fairly unassuming with a small barn in an older wooded subdivision, he has somewhere around 35 cars between the barn and the basement, all Fords, mostly woodies, from Model As up to some shoeboxes and a Tbird. It's pretty amazing.

From what I can see, not that impressive. I kind of like that shed though, interesting construction.

  12. If anyone has heard of Weyrich, the big developer who just went belly up in california? My dad and i went to his house, my dad was interested in buying it in forclosure.

In the garage was a beautiful buick roadster, early 30s, and when i expressed interest to the broker, he said check this out... and took me out to the horse stable and opened the big horse barn, there were 17 Model A's, 2 roadsters the rest coupes... i saw that with my own eyes as well.

  13. Ultimate Island Find :D

So I am dropping off a car to this guy in the middle of the New Mexico
Desert and we start shooting the breeze .....

He tells me his is originally from the Florida Keys and was exploring
a few years ago and stumbled on this island in the everglades ...

Well it is about 501 acres and he spends a week exploring it and
on the seventh day he stumbles across ......

    A BARN

Well inside this barn are 37 guys all telling stories about some
barn in Alaska where all these old Ford Model A's are stored

Well he had heard that story before so he packed up & headed
    home .....

There is no moral to the story ;)

Funny how a storyteller will defend the truth of a story that he heard from a guy, who heard it from a guy....

  18. read what i said, i was told it by the guy who was there. the guy who opened the door. his friend who was with him was the owner of the land.

  19. Whew! This one's going..., as a past part-time resident of "The Last Frontier", I can vouch that there's alot of properties that require passage thru 3 or 4 other properties to get to, and 40-50 yrs ago alot of those "Mature" tress were nothing but saplings...

A friend of mine that still lives up there, actually bought some 100 acres of "remote" property for hunting and fishing, there was even a barn and cabin on it from the early forties.

He eventually laid out a "Bush" airstrip, got tired of the 3 days it took to get in there (via 4-wheelers... oh, and dodging the ocassional bull moose and grizzlies)...

Aw damnit, look at the time..., lunch is over and now I gotta sneak in my iTunes download ( the new Deftones album dropped today...) on company time!

    Damn you, evil tale spinners!

  20. Alaska? Get some sow trucks out there and pull 'em out.

It doesn't sound completely far-fetched in terms of the number of cars. You get out into the middle of nowhere and you run across those types who have collected stuff for years and have a massive collection.

It's the distance and lack of pics that seem sketchy. Time will tell though, if we suddenly see 37 Model A's hit the market up in Alaska we'll know.

Loosecannon, hang in there buddy. Without pics you set yourself up for a lot of static. There are two duece coupes in my neighborhood that probably have not seen the light of day for over twenty years so I'm not one to doubt you. At the rate my roadster project in going, it will be an urban legend by the time my kids get to High school. I appreciate a good story and thank you for sharing it.

It's all possible, but highly unlikely. I can definitely make some room for those cars if that is one of his 'problems'. Just let me know.

  23. i dont know about up there, but down in oregon if you own the property you can do whatever the***** you want, cut down trees, build dirt roads..... hell you can even put paved roads...... as long as that barn isnt on BLM land the state cant do*****.

really, my father-in-law said he technically was supposed to have a forester come and tell him which trees he should cut and get permission on his recommendation. That hasn't stopped him from doing whatever he wants though :D

    Brokeback Ranch

    Scene 1

Kirt & Rich, two life long friends, had gone to Alsaka to visit Rich's newly inherited ranch. They planned to make a 'vacation" of it, with plenty of "camping" and "alone time". Also "exploring", lots of it. After four days of this, they came upon a lush, rich, forrsted valley with an old (is there any other type of barn?), huge barn. In the middle NOWHERE!
Rich could not contain himself and rushed to open the barn doors to see what was inside.
Model A's and 32 Fords, and lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Kirt could not believe his eyes and said, "This excites me. We must cut down trees! I must see flying WOOD!"
Rich gazed into Kirt's eyes and silently nodded approval. It was Rich's ranch, after all.
" But what about the GOVERNMENT" Won't they say something? ALASKA has so few trees and this is PRIVATE PROPERTY" murmered Rich.
Kirt thought for a moment (didn't happen too often) and said " We will dig a canal and bring a container ship to the barn! There is NO law against THAT!"
Rich knew his friend all too well. He was right. Kirt was ALWAYS right.

" But what about a picture? Did you bring your BROWNIE?" inquired Rich. Sadly Kirt had not brought his trusty BROWNIE camera.
"I'll just draw a mental picture from memory and tell people about it, and they will believe me. Who would dare question my honesty! Or my version of my memory!"

Scene fades with our intrepid adventurers adjourning to their pup tent. For the night.

The next person with a barn find story should be "barn fined" $500, even if it's true.

I changed my mind, I believe it. How can I not... I mean, why wouldn't there be 37 1928-32 Fords in the middle of nowhere Alaska... which was barely developed in the 30's and wasn't even an American state until 1959. It makes perfect sense!
