A few years ago I contacted Mr. Gasket about info in identifying Mallory distributors. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and a week later I received these 22 pages of info in the mail...

There are so many questions about how to ID these distributors on here that I thought I would take the time to post all the pages...

Sorry some of them are crooked, but that's how I received them...

And another thing: Earlier examples will have the number shown on the side tag as the beginning of the ID information, with other charcters identifying the type of distributor and the advance curve.
On later manufactured ones, I think from roughly early 1970's, the part number is quite long, and the numbers shown are part of it starting a couple of digits from the beginning.
I don't have access to books right now, but a glance at a known distributor will tell you which digits match the above Then later digits give the advance curve info.

I’m trying to identify a Mallory distributor I dug out of my stash today and got all excited when I found this thread BUT, the pages that oldspwr posted don’t show up anymore. Are they gone forever or am I doing something wrong?
    My Mallory tag says, YC337HP.

I'm looking for that particular unit for my 392 hemi, if you want to sell it. 206 637 4071 seattle area.

I believe that "Moriarity" posted this same information a year or so ago. I search of "Mallory" for user "Moriarity" may produce what you want. If you can't find it, get back to me, as I downloaded them somewhere (hopefully, I can find them).

From the post above, it appears to be for a 392 Chrysler.
