There are no name or markings on this one. Notice the five hole pattern, instead of the usual four. Anybody know who made it?

JC Whitney? They were great for getting your figures stuck in them if you were stupid enough to to them in!

  4. Might be an Ansen. I have an NOS walnut rim wheel with 5 holes on each spoke and it has an Ansen sticker on the back.

  12. A little side step here... Does anyone know of a GOOD lace-on leather wheel cover? I've got a mid '60s Buick 3 spoke wheel I'd like to 'fatten up' the grip diameter on. Thanks!

    Hello,

How to preserve some history for future uses or displays for all to see in its original form… If one were to peek in the rear window of the SWC Swindler 2, this is the view that shows up.

The original steering wheel from the good old days in all its history during the Gas Coupe and Sedan racing days. The Willys Coupe is/was a great ambassador of drag racing since it toured all across the USA, got involved in the advertising wars from the cam grinders and won many class eliminatons everywhere.

I was lucky as there were only a few people getting their cars ready for the original Lion’s Dragstrip displays. It had never been done before and this warehouse had its work cut out to make all of the drag race fans and racers remember with clear heads and vision what it used to be from 1955 opening day to the last drag race in 1972.

Historic parts, Including the original steering wheel, a great history and still drawing raves at the latest version of the Lion’s Dragstrip museum that got refurbished and reopened in 2019.

I put a 3 spoke aftermarket steering wheel on my '39 Chev when I built it, but it just never seemed to do it for me. At the Portland Swap Meet last week I came across a restored '53 Chevy wheel that I thought was exactly what it needed. Price was very cheap, so I bought it. Horn cap was repaired and painted gloss black, so yesterday I picked up a correct original cap from DiOrio's Old Car Parts here in town. It made the wheel even better for me!
