4 Spoke Schroeder in my F-1, I plan to cut down the original wheel to 15" dia.

 

Here is the wheel from my convertible. It's from a 1984 Olds Toronado the horn button is a repopulate from the 48 98 Olds modified to fit in the Toronodo horn button.

 

Lots of nice wheels & ideas here. I have a 36 Ford banjo wheel I plan on restoring & installing in my 34. It will go on a 60's Ford column. Any input on modifications to get things to fit?

I've mentioned it before, and there's really good before-and-after pictures in the thread where unclescooby gave that chrysler to a young kid, but if your center plastic horn button has bad crazing lines in it, smear it up with vaseline, leave it be for a week or two, then wipe it off. The difference is amazing. If someone can find those pictures and post them that'd be awesome.

 

An old ebay score I have ear marked for a Model A/Morgan 3 wheeler build I'm starting into (photoshop rendering). It's 16" from a Brit Austin, MG, Morris, etc. ? Nardi cap poked in for giggles

Awesome, thanks for finding it. An old guy who's not with us anymore taught me that trick and it has brought a lot of old plastic back to life for me.

I use this off-the-shelf Speedway thing with the nubs on the back. I wasn't totally into it at first & was just using it until something more interesting came along. Then, I happened to find this old silver/turquoise inlaid chopper gas cap & it miraculously snapped in the center of the steering wheel like it was made for it. I took that as a sign.


And, here is the great mystery "heart shaped wheel" made of cast aluminum. It's a little over 14" wide. There was a thread around years ago about trying to identify weird stuff & it was a riot on guys that swore it was this or that. If my memory serves me well, we had a fork lift truck, various speedboats, various plane tillers (like the one from the late WWII "Bamboo Bomber"), various amusement park rides, the underground tram from the Pentagon, etc. There never really was any sort of consensus, but everyone was sure that they were right. I think there's a F.E.D. out there that is missing a steering wheel.

 

That may have bumped you up to Hoarder status.

The wheel in my 1948 Hudson is a 54 Hudson wheel restored by Pearlcraft. Reduced in diameter and finished in colors to match paint scheme of the interior. At that time the original owners did the work but it has since been sold to a younger couple. At one stage after my wheel was done and before the change of ownership they would only do pearl wheels. Not sure if that is still the go with the new owners. Back in 2005 I think I paid $800??

 

Thought I would keep it going. A real nice original in my 37000 mile 1932 Ford 5 window.
