Like many of us I would like a 36-41 pickup but it seems like they have all been bobber'd/rr'd and that isn't my thing. Prices seem to be coming down as that style may becoming outdated. Anybody ever un-hack an early pickup? Would it be better to start with something more original? The good thing is that many are running and driving so have something to start with. ***uming I could find one with an original frame probably would need to find fenders, hood, running boards, unchannel the body, fix the frame including front crossmember and probably a million other things but it seems no worse than any other restoration. If I found one like the yellow before picture, and it was cheap enough, it doesn't look so badly hacked it couldn't get to the "after" image without breaking the bank. If it has good bones, and isn't a rust bucket, I'd take it on as a project myself.
The good thing is I was buying fenders when the bobbers became popular. I agree with Anthony, not much will be usable from a bobber. Usually the frame has been cut up to achieve the ride height. Not usually interchangeable with OEM stuff. I would look for a stock ch***is if you can't find a complete truck. Usually, you can piece one together.
