A newbie (2 posts, joined today) sent me a PM. I'm trying to respond, but there's no reply box or send ****on on the page. I checked other conversations in my inbox and those pages load just fine, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the person being a newbie (or perhaps they have PM's turned off... but why would doing that still allow them to throw them over the wall at other people??). Just looking for confirmation from the powers that be on this, or... maybe it's an actual bug???

    Thanks,

eta: I was able to start a NEW conversation with the person... just couldn't reply to his original conversation. Not sure if he actually received my new PM, however.

If you're on a desktop or laptop, have you tried a different browser or made sure that your current browser is updated? If you're using a smartphone I'm not so sure what to recommend.

First, yes. Desktop. Second, as I said, I can't send to this guy, but I can send to pretty much anyone else 2 seconds later, then come back to the first guy and it's as described again. The browser is unlikely to change behavior right in front of me. It'll either work or it won't.

He may have his message preferences set to "Accept Conversations form People you follow only"

Thanks. That was one of my suppositions above, but I wonder why (if?) that feature still lets him throw grenades over the wall at others... seems like it would be a 2-way street kind of feature. If you don't accept them, you shouldn't be able to send them. Was just looking for a technical confirmation from the board software experts if that was the case.

The feature only states "Accept conversations.....". It doesn't seem to limit someones ability of sending to others.

Yeah, I get it. As a (retired) product developer, if that is indeed how it works, it seems like a poor implementation... ripe for abuse by someone who gets to dish out PM's but doesn't have to take them.
