i like both. but u gotta know what u are doing and have taste to chop for it look right. Chopping for the sake of chopping just because its cool is stupid and the more u chop it doesn't necessarily mean the better. some cars just dont look right chopped
yes the roof is the first thing i noticed and i personally think that the car looks o so right with this modd. simply perfection
That Goulart car was so well done one of the custom front ends they gave you in the AMT 3-in-one '50 convertible kit is just about a dead ringer for that one. Putting it on the '49 coupe kit was just another $1.49 or so away -
Leroy's brother, Ray Goulart, owned this unchopped Olds hardtop (once a convertible), this time with a rear window swap.
I don't remember many chopped cars back in St. Louis in the 50's-60's. They were lowered with custom paint and aftermarket wheels. Mostly the rest of the money was spent to make them go faster.
Joe Bailon perhaps more than anyone else produced a number of radical, un-chopped customs., such as the "Mystery Ford", "Candy Bird" '55 T-Bird, 'Scoopy" '58 Impala, his '52 Merc convertible, and Frank livingston's Fleetline, to name a few.(Photos courtesy Rik Hoving's site.)
