i love this one yeah i cant wait for this "layed out" thing to get "played out" i cant stand hipsters like bill hoffman just jumpin on the latest trend like a mindless bandwagon rider.
go back to the good old days and find me 20 layed out cars. it wasn't a trend back then. nowadays you can't swing a cat by the tail without hitting 30 of them. just seems odd to me to build a car to look "cool" parked at a show.
Find 20 East Coast little books and you will find 20 low cars, with angle hair too. May be odd, but lots were around when I was going to the county center car shows in the early 60's. Remember one that had it's lakes pipes set on the floor after the car was parked. More than odd, kinda dumb. But look at what came later on at shows, the bathtub car, etc. etc. Really dumb.
Well, they look cool parked at a show or driving down the road ... just like whatever it is you drive. You like yours with a nice static suspension, others like the adjustablity of bags. To each their own. And the fact of the matter is that the trend had to start sometime and from what I have read on this very site, in other bag bashing threads, the trend started in the "good old days". Remember, trends start with one car/truck. Just because there weren't a lot of them back in the day, doesn't mean that it the roots of the trend didn't come from that time. All that said, lets not turn this thread into a bag bashing discussion like they normally turn into. Lets just get back to the pictures.
Nice touch there dante. I agree. I may not want it but I get the whole "layin frame" thing. I'm considering bags for my 61 bubble since I live in a rural area. I'd hate for my roads to prevent me from lowering the car to the stance I want rollin. I can air up to get out and air down when hit the hiway. Makes good sense to me anyways. I'm diggin the pics of the old cars "laid out"
I'm building this so it can lay out and still get in my driveway....and cruise down the highway with a very comfortable ride!
Can we see some pics of your ride so we all know what the proper and acceptable way to build a car is? I wouldn't want to build something I like if it doesn't fit your standards. Why do guys always feel the need to interject their unsolicited opinions? There's gotta be a million other threads on here that pertain to your interests.
C'mon Phil, you've got to have a better pic than that one...go pull the one out of Kirk's thread and post it here. R-
