I have to admit it looked lighter wet... these were taken late this evening so I'm sure it will look brighter in the light...

    I know what you mean.

I finally broke down and got a "new" truck... it dawned on me the other day my new truck was 17 years old and all the others like it on the road are beaters... LOL

I pulled a wild card with the choice of paint... it looked lighter on the sample chip in the sun... and in the direct sunlight the highligts are a lot brighter... this color is a pain to try to get a good picture...

I did say they were waiting for paint too... I'll have to set up a photo session... meanwhile enjoy the reflection of the sky and trees

  10. I know my opinion doesn't mean much, but I dig the hell out of that blue. I like the bright and sparkly highlights.

Overall, the car is superb. I hope to be able to do that one day

that blue color is spectacular. I love the way it seems to glow with 2 different colors in the sunlight.

I just went to the paint store asked for the generic chip book cause I only wanted a pint for a guide coat... sample looked bright which I thought would make it easier to photograph until we got to the final dark color... it photographs a differant shade in every light... it is a darker blue with heavy pearl and light metallic

The color I picked was more like this...

but, it looks darker than this most of the time... and without direct light it almost looks black...

The paint color is Chrysler, "Bonzai Blue" used from '91 to '94.

Didn't Chevy have a lighter color blue in '65/'66? I think it was called Marina Blue.

Have a friend who has painted most his cars that blue.
Always looks great on his cars!

This is the first 57 I've owed that won't have the side trim... I never thought of the 57's as being slab sided... but, the trim on these cars were a great design illusion because without trim they have some sharp charactor lines but sides don't... black will visually section the body... I'm warming up to the idea of having the top another color but it won't be a late model color... obviously these cars are lighter but the sides look a little heavy to me... and my intent is not to have a custom but a factory styling prototype that never made production... opinions welcomed!

The trim makes a differance on these cars and the side view of this Ranch Wagon - Del Rio shows a good visual of the top changes too

  23. I agree that the side trim does make the '57 Ford look better. Have you thought about maybe using the Custom 300 trim or maybe even modified trim from a '58?

The 57 Ranchero was available with no trim, single strip, and double with gold anodized... the NOS fenders & quarters have no holes so I'm going for the dechromed look since my wagon has the same style as the Del Rio above... if your going to own two I want them as differant as possible

Here is a construction shot I completely overlooked before... attaching the Retractable Hardtop roof skin to the windshield header... although the cowl & roof section are off the same model car the inner roof panel section was eliminated & welded directly on the convertable windshield frame... the roof panel sits forward & lower almost an inch in both directions...

If the Victoria had the same windshield as the Fairlanes (if anyone knows please post)... I can use the Victoria windshield rubber and stainless trim without modifing anything... OEM on a 2 3/8 inch chop... the modified Retract trim will be aboce the windshield stainless

  26. Could you just install the 300 chrome that goes on the rear 1/4?
