once back in the shop, I scraped out the inside of the old gas tank and removed a couple baffles for the gage clearance. image3.jpeg

after lunch we decided to get the roof started. I started by bending the back panel and forming it around the roof rib. image0.jpeg image1.jpeg

trimmed the roof panel to fit as good as I could, it was actually about three inches shorter than I wanted but this was the biggest piece left of the salvaged '65 suburban roof. I welded it across the back and nailed it to the windshield header across the front. I folded the sides over the side rail. image2.jpeg

next for the roof is to address the front gap and then make side pieces/rain gutters over the doors. image8.jpeg

thanks, what color two tone for the dash, Charlie wants dark brown outer edge, like most of the interior eventually and something lighter [?] on the "inset"

If the interior is going to be brown, then dark brown outer edge with cream inset.
If I were doing it the interior would be black and Wimbledon white inset .

Brown and cream would be okay. Maybe with gold body!

I love this build. Putting something together that never existed like it is. With the dark brown and cream dash, then the exterior could a kind of cream with a brown belt.

Spent some time at Uncle Charlie's this morning. Checking out some alignment issues. Once we figured that out we went into the cooler house and shot the s&;:t for awhile.:cool: IMG_8491.jpeg IMG_8493.jpeg IMG_8492.jpeg

  20. This is a great shot. The proportions for the box look about right. Fun, fun, fun.
