No, It was not you I was thinking of. I figured you were busy with your second job. I knew you had been working two jobs to try to save up to have your bumper fixed.:D

By the way, why did you use that bumper anyway?

Ok, some more infomation. I just got the mess cleaned up from last night and all the parts ( ie- bolts screwws etc) cleaned up and bagged for the re-***embly next week.
I have been using my agitator and Zep carb cleaner to clean up old engine tear down bolts etc. Works really good but the smell doesnt go away for a week or so. I just throw all the bolts in the basket and let it agitate for a while (in this case all night soak) and they come out really clean, wash with super hot water, reclean with solvent in solvent tank , allow soak to dry and then spray with spray lube ( lubriplate product). Then put in a zip lock until needed.
I cleaned the pistons up this morning and just like we thought they are NEW! 030 over bore and no scuff marks at all. The engine had been stored on its side and the oil in the pan had preserved the cylinders and pistons etc. It appears it will take very little to make her a runner.
Terry just left the shop taking the engine to the beauty shop for a dip in the tank, some new bearings and a crankshft check etc. The heads will be givin a basic job as well. Some gaskets and we are ready for next weeks follies....

Looks like fun. There used to be a bad *** bug with a blown V8 in the lobby of Wilson's salvage in Lexington?, OK. Right next to Black Widow Speedway. Keep us posted.

OK, another wed night . Had a great group tonight. Tie rod, monzadude, eagletucky, gmc bubba, grumpy and lindross plus about four to five others.
    A hamb night for sure.
i picked up the engine at the machine shop today, the block is cleaned, checked and new cam bearings etc. The crank is turned .020 and polished. Heads checked and valves ground. Picked up a new oil pump, and all bearings plus a gasket set etc.
The engine was on the stand when the guys got there. Elterron went after subway sandwiches and tie rod started right away installing the crankshaft etc, after the subs the rest kicked in and got the pistons in, new corvette grind camshaft and the heads on.
Scoob was out of town but missed a really productive evening.
Thought you all would enjoy a peak at this little monster???:D:D

Also the catch of the evening (gets double shots of woodford from now on) was from Eagletucky!
As the evening went on we had just installed both cylinder heads and torqued the last bolt and Tim walks over to the engine and says " whats that hole for ??" The hole was the upper oil galley plug half hidden under the left cylinderhead and had been left out when they cleaned the block!
A honest mistake ( i have done worse) but would have been a oily mess when we prime the engine etc. We had to remove the head to install a new plug. No big deal now but could have been a real pain.
Thanks for the eye and good catch Eagletucky !!!:D

Don't sweat it, I accidentally put the body back on the ch***is sideways. I left it that way to keep that cl***ic sprint car drift feel though.

I've got some headers being made. I think we can use them to cook about 8 dogs at a time. We should be good to go.

There was a fella (Bob Beatty) here back in the early 80's with a 440 Chrysler powered VW bug, the car was pearl white, tilt front end, sqaure tube ch***is I belive, narrowed rear end, big slicks under the rear fenders...I was told it was a 10 sec car....Nice guy, very ingenious, loved big block Chryslers....This was just one of the cars he built with BB Chryslers.......Wish I had pics of it....

Cool, Scoob always has the coolest stuff. Wish I was back there to help out. I guess I'll just have to tough out this 72 and sunny weather out here on the left coast.

I made it over there last night just in time to hear the motor fire. It sounds great and is a great looking little motor. Scoob videoed it but wasn't sure if it was going to work or not. Hopefully it will end up on you tube.

I had a great time last night (as always on wed nights) it was good to see everyone and get to BS and tinker for a while. I think it was that shot in the arm I needed to get back to work on my own stuff again.

Ok maybe i need to explain a couple things.

1= This car is a real turd. We all know that up front. We are not trying to make this a chainer show car.
2=Our goal is to take a old driveway built thing (thay somebody more than likely loved) and make it run , using just as little dollars as possible.
3=The main mission ( at least in my mind) is for a bunch of guys to have fun doing the project. So far thats what we have done.

With the disclaimer out of the way heres the latest from the " Scoob Bug Build".
We drug the car in from Scoobs house and pushed her in the garage. The group got busy as soon as they arrived last night and we have it striped down ready for some clean up, repairs and re***embly.
You guys have never seen such a cobbled up suspension. It appears the frame and front end could have been early ford maybe 46 ???
The rear end is a 55-57 chevy unit. The builder had tons of extra pipe, strap steel and alot of welding rod. ( Yes we are leaving it like it was)
The body is pretty solid for a 62 Bug.
We did get a trial fit of the engine last night and we may even be able to run the tri-ower on the tunnel ram. ( cool look)
    Enjoy the pics...

The inside of that car was disgusting. I'm still shaking the mouse turds out of my hair.

I just realized why no one was helping me take the carpet out:D.
