You know how it goes. Every Tom **** and Harry knows the list of usual suspects: Models T, A, and Deuce, Shoebox ford, Tri-5 Chevy, '59 Caddy, 63-65 Riv, 64 Impala... and so on.

But there are so many bad *** cars out there that never get the press that the old stand-by's get. What do you think are the best of the also-rans? Why?

    My 1st submission: 1950 Buick

Lots of nice attributes to this car. Available hard top, that ***y fender line that carries to the back quarter, pretty face, and great kustom fodder. There's also something I like about the chrome belt line that goes around the roof/windows of the early 50's GM cars.

I've always loved the lines on '61 Buicks and '62 & '64 Pontiacs. You don't seem to see many of them.

...before we go any further would somebody please get a baseball bat and smack those camaro /mustang mirrors off that Buick convertible for me.

61 Dodge Polaras or any of the 2 door hardtop Darts make a cool looking custom. sadly I have a 61 2 door post, which just looks ****y.

I am big fan of 50-52 buicks. Here's another for you.
In between the bullet nose Studebakers and the ***y little 53 Stude coupes was the 1952 model. Still fat fendered, but with a more normal looking face on it.it's also the only year of the 47-52 style where a hartdop was offered.

here's the one I'm working on:

A 61 Pointiac Catalina Ventura, Tri power and 4 speed was my dream car in my early teens. I'd still like to find one.

And one of these days I will own a 57 Buick Estate wagon.

Psst, we probably shouldn't be telling these things the price will go up on them too.

Four door cars have a lot of potential of being a Kool Kustom or Hot Rod. Just because
they're two too many doors dosn't automatically make it not Kool.

    Happy Trails,

I like the 40's-50's Mopars, not just that I have one, but the lines are long, smooth and curvy and they have round, fat *** fenders.
    Here's mine....

Blake.. I'd say '56 Ford trucks are underappreciated... now get to work appreciatin' yours! :D

I'd say the Exner Mopars have the best lines of any group of cars ever made.. razor sharp lines, easy to lower ;) and lots of horsepower. I don't understand why there weren't more of them customized when they were new, but now they're rust buckets and hard to find. Probably not underappreciated, more like just plain uncommon. I of course like them. ;)

MY bone stock 61 seneca 2 door post is ****y. as well as just about all other 2 door post 61's ever made. that's why I bought it.

I've seen one hardtopped 2 door post from So Cal a few years back.. and it didn't look good at all. not much a person can do to un-**** those cars. I've had mine for 14 years, so I should know.

saw one in an old Hot Rod magazine, 2 door post with a factory cross ram on a 383?? 361?? whatever it was.. I think it was a 3 speed. they were doing a road test on it. took it to the drags. that one was very cool... still looked ****y though

I saw that Pontiac wagon at Indy Truck Bash this past year I think. That's where this pic is from if I'm not mistaken. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.

I noticed a couple threads come up in the past month or so concerning 30-32 Chevys. I just purchased one from a fellow HAMB member and I really think that these cars are not utilized enough. I mean if you look at a completely restored version it makes you wonder why more people on the HAMB are not looking to these cars to create clean looking Hot Rods. Or look at this image of a 32 from the Rod & Custom site.

lets not forget the Hudsons, Nash, and Packards late 40's to mid 50's. true not many survived the crusher but they are still out there and are the red headed stepchild to the big three so they are affordable.

Nice selections everybody! Definitely some that were not on my radar.

I ***ume you're talking about the red chopped-top kustom, and yeah, they ****. But the rest of the car looks good so... what are ya gonna do?

Sheeit. My Effie is a perfect example of the over-appreciated cars. And I've been workin' on it. How 'bout your wagon? ;)
