The one in my Avatar is mounted under the dash pointing down. Have to feel for it. Works great.

In late 1959,I added a lighter plug n lighter,in the front of bench seat lip, just under the seat. Mostly for a spotlight plus I kept behind the seat. I never smoked,as a Gal. of gas was about some cost,an that was more needed. Being able to light a pretty gal's smoke was OK too. Now days it can charge my cell phone f needed.

A lot of today's power cords don't fit the old car cigarette lighters. (Loose fit) Check before you install. The option HRP showed gives you 2 USB ports which work with just about anything nowadays. (Available on Amazon. ) I mounted mine under the front edge of my seat. Nobody sees it and you can lay the phone or iPod on the seat without the cord dangling from the dash.

I still have gas tank under the seat so limited to under the dash for now and my charger fits it,it has a normal universal lighter and might be newer then it looks.

On my '60 I found a spot where an A/C switch would have been mounted in the dash. Installed a power point, all newer cars have them(junkyard) then I made a dummy plug with a stock knob as on the rest in the dash. when not in use it looks like a factory knob.

The bracket shown comes from a 1941 Ford, it holds the heater switch.

Use a motorcycle USB charger [which has a built in on-off switch, so it can be connected to 12v live]
