My 40 moved out of the garage for the first time in a year and a half. I did quite a lot to it, new engine, transmission, dropped axle, spring, and all the ***ociated changes one has to make when modding a hot rod. I must say “thank you” to a few members here. @40ragtopdown thanks for the info and parts to split the bones. @Weedburner 40 for talking me through some steering and suspension issues I had early on and shipping out some excellent builder parts. @saltracer219 for sending me to one of his friends who helped me recon my old axle, and also built my drag link and tie rod and provided me with the parts to finish my spring. Sometimes you need to know what direction to head and these guys certainly kept me moving forward. I have a few kinks to work out, but it sure felt good to back this rig out and take a loop around the neighborhood.
Good stuff! You got that big smile off your face yet? I think they usually stay for a couple of hours after the first drive of a new build!
There's nothing quite like your first time, and that first drive under its own power is one of the best that only a few will ever experience, enjoy and fully understand! Congratulations!
Clean looking '40. Congrats, just can't beat that feeling. Did the same first-in-a-long-time drive around the neighborhood in my own project Chevy II awhile back so I know exactly how you roll. Here's to many more safe miles and fun times ahead!
